Default Bad Alignment? Always Tire Wear?

'16 M7 Z with 7000 miles. Going into dealer tomorrow for 2nd oil change & was going to have them rotate tires. Decided to do myself to protect my black lug nuts. The tires all looked (to me) to be wearing very well/evenly. So question is, should I bother having alignment checked? Car seems ( I'm not a tracker) to carve out curves well under very spirited driving also. Thanks

My dealer wants $145-$200 for a proper tool/alignment and it's $200 if you want the insurance. Since I'm at 3,200 miles with little wear, I'm holding off (not a tracker except 1/4 mile runs). Your at 7,000 miles and if you are wearing evenly, you might be like me and feel your alignment is good from the factory. IMO if these tires should wear 12k-15K miles, that is really good on this type of car. For me that is two years of driving it hard and I would be happy with those results. I've seen some tires cord at your level of miles so I think your fine.

I have debated with myself about posting my experiences with the "factory alignment", but here goes:
I had a 2010 Z06 that was a Museum Delivery. The car felt very different from my 2008 Z06 and I attributed it to being a newer, tighter, better suspension. Was I ever wrong! Corded the inside of the rear tires by 7500 miles. Checked the alignment and the rear toe was way off. One side was toe in and the other toe out plus the rear camber was something like -10°.
Fast forward to my 2017 Z06/Z07 and the car felt the same from day one. A friend's GS was built within days of my car and handled the same. We made an appointment to have the alignment checked and guess what? Both cars were out of spec in rear alignment (toe & camber, as well as caster). The C7, by the way has a rear caster adjustment that can throw things WAY out of balance. Now it handles like a gocart.
I've watched cars coming off the assembly line and thought there's no way the car could be properly aligned in the time allowed for that. It can't!
Do yourself a favor and have it checked BEFORE 7500 miles and the alignment will be taken care of under warranty. Your tires and checkbook will thank you.

Why 7500 miles? Is that a warranty limit for alignments? I plan on taking a museum delivery next year and was thinking of getting it checked at the 500 mile oil change time on the way home some 2000 + miles to CA.

I had my dealer check mine based upon what I had read on the forum at the 500 mile oil change and there was no charge. It was out of alignment, but not as much as some of the others on the forum seem to be.

Did you also have it corrected at no charge?

Default Way Out of Alignment.....

My 2106 Z06 Z07 M7 had about 5,200 miles on it and the cup2's were toast. I had three track days on the tires and the rest highway driving. Took it into an custom shop to have the alignment checked and found it was not even in the ball park of spec.

Had it realigned and now nice even tread wear...... so far, and that is with another 3,500 miles on the car.

Taking a trip down to the museum next month so we will see how it does on the road trip.

Yes! On page 12 of the warranty booklet, it states "** Wheel alignment and balance are considered maintenance items AFTER 7500 miles."
