Default cargo (led) lights dimming?

I don't remember if it did this with the oem bulbs. I installed red led bulbs in the rear cargo are. Sometimes when I open the hatch they are very dim and sometimes full bright. Doesn't seem to make sense light or dark out. Is there some kind of sensor? Anyone else had this issue?

Just open the door and they will go to full brightness. Not sure I know why the made them this way - Are they LED's?

When your car is asleep the hatch lights will be dim. Opening the door or unlocking with the fob wakes the car up and they will be bright. Also bright for a little while after you stop the car.
Normal.

I just looked at them when opening only the hatch so now I see that opening the door makes them bright but the hatch dimmer.
Thanks to all.
