Question for LEOs: Do cops really like Vettes?
I have driven sports cars and sporty cars all my adult life, Honda S2000s for eight years+. I'm 72. I have averaged 1-2 speeding tickets a year that entire time. I bought my first Vette, a crystal red 2014 C7 vert in 2/14. I don't baby it. No speeding tickets in almost 3 1/2 years. I was stopped once, asked for a break, and got it. I get compliments and comments from cops all the time. (full disclosure: my dad was a 25 year LAPD and I really respect authority.)

I'm a LEO, and love C7 Corvettes, but don't have much attachement to other Corvettes. I think the obvious answer is that we're people too, and obviously have varying tastes just like any other group of people in society. Corvettes are probably the higher end of what would generally be attainable for the average LEO salary, so maybe they tend to show more appreciation for something that they desire to own and could possibly obtain? It could also be that they find the "typical" corvette driver to be more pleasant to deal with that some other types of car? I could see exotic owners being real tools, for example.

averaging 1-2 tickets per year for speeding would get your license suspended after just a few years........just saying.
But congrats on not driving like a sissy.

I never wrote a Corvette because it was a Corvette, but obviously I like them. Stopped one many years ago kinda showing off. It was getting off time. I walked up to the guy and said, "I'll make you a deal. You slow down and I go home". Probably couldn't believe how lucky he was. Big city cops don't really like writing tickets unless they're in a Traffic Division

Gotta agree with Bud. Only time I've ever been hassled here in TX has been by the DPS and then only because I don't have a front plate on the Z.

As a side note, I was assigned to a reserve unit for 2 years after my active duty. Worked the afternoon shift till midnight and was late getting to a weekend Army meet and was really heavy on the gas pedal. Came over a rise in the road and "Bingo" there was a Detroit radar unit. As he walked up to my car and saw the MP shoulder patch and before I could say a word he said have fun this weekend. Never asked for license or registration. When I got to armory, I told our Sgt. Major, who was a member of the DPD Big Four unit, he just laughed. Still remember his name, Lonnie Hasty, and that was 48 years ago.

I am curious I'm a veteran and not to long ago I found out in Texas you can put your a vet on your drivers license. So I'm am curious if a leo sees that are they less likely to give a ticket?

My birthday was yesterday july 25, 1939, so you see I am 78 years old I just purchased a new C7 stingray corvette, black on black, black wheels. This is my 4th one. I love these Vettes. I only have 900 miles on it because afraid some drunk will run over me here in Lubbock. I keep adding things to it. Way to do Leo Salary.

I was stopped for speeding once wearing my old Air Force field jacket. The officer mentioned it and I got a pass.

Accidently went to the ez pass lane when i left my ezpass in the other car and the cop came out and asked me for my license. My license was expired and i was awaiting a new one. My registeration was also expired AND i didnt have a front license plate on. The officer pointed out all these things to me but ultimately said that he was going to let me go and told me to fix all these issues only because he admired the car and it was going to be his retirement present to himself.
There were many other incidents but that was the most memorable, Im going to go out the limb here and say.. yea they def likes the vettes and favor them.

27 years as a LEO (fed now) and I've been a car guys since I was a little kid working on my uncles 1976 Trans Am. I remember I was a rookie cop in the early 90's. I bought a Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4 and my payment was one entire paycheck but man I loved that car!!

I get asked all the time how many times I get followed by the PD. The surprising answer is very few. No matter what car you are driving, just don't be an a hole and pay attention to what you are doing. It may be that being in the FD with firefighter plates may help

I guess it all depends on the LEO. As my friend Rebel Yell stated in another thread he ticketed the driver not the car.

Sometimes I drive in ways I shouldn't, and if I get a ticket, I probably had it coming. One piece of advice, if you get stopped, admit you screwed up. If you try to convince the officer that you didn't do, what he saw you do, it'll just **** him off.
