C6 after C5 ownership
Questions for those who upgraded from C5 to C6.
So the C6 was called evolutionary unlike the revolutionary C5 and later the C7. What do you feel is the biggest improvement of the C6 over the C5? What did the C5 do better than the C6? Do any of you regret getting the C6?

C6 of Year Finalist (appearance mods) 2019
I had 2 C5's and liked them both and now I've had 2 C6's and they seem tighter and more refined than the C5. I always referred to C6's as C5.5's though.

2021 C6 of the Year Finalist - Unmodified
C6 of Year Finalist (stock) 2019
C5 front end looked better, C6 a lot of new things and A6 paddle shifter#1. I believe the Active handling was a little better, more tolerance for the driver. Dual mode exhaust on some later models.
Here's a few other things.

I had a 2004 M6 coupe with mag ride. A fabulous car in every way!! Now I have a 2013 GS A6 ragtop -- also a great car.
The C6 horsepower increase to 400 (LS2) and 436 (LS3 with dual-mode exhaust) is certainly noticeable, although the 350 hp LS1 is no slouch.
Body panel fitment on my C6 is much better than my C5 was.

I came from a 2003 C5 Z06 to a 2008 C6 base w/Z51 A6. It's hard in some ways to compare the two since one was a manual, and the other an automatic. Power wise there is not much difference, if any. The first thing I noticed was that the C6 seemed a lot tighter body wise. The Z's windows always rattled when closing the doors. The C6 doesn't do that. The seats also seem way more comfortable in the C6. The wheel well openings on the C5 Z always bothered me too. It always looked like it was sitting too high at stock height. I miss the idea of owning a Z06, but I much prefer my C6.

I have a 2000 sitting beside my 2008. I won't argue about the looks. Some like the C5 better. Some like the C6 better.
What I love most about my C6 over the C5? 91 more horses. No worries about the flip-up headlights breaking. (and they are brighter as well) Keyless entry is pretty handy. Put the FOB in my pocket and that's that. I love the dual mode (NPP) exhaust too. A lot! Shoot, put me in the weird category but I actually know how to use my navigation system and like it. Anyway, when it comes time for a drive, I use the C6 much more often.
Not to say I don't love my C5 (it was my first Corvette and I special ordered it), I just find my C6 more fun to drive.

I really liked my C5 but my C6 just seems like a better built car all around. The c5 interior really looks dated compared to the c6. As stated above, my c6 is extremely solid over bumps and rough roads.

Went from an 01 coupe to an 05 coupe. More hp, better interior, more room, better seats, as far as I'm concerned, just a better all around car.
It would be sad if say a 10 year old car was better than a brand new one.

Had a '03 AE w/ A4, loved it, so much better than the '99 SS I'd had.
But time moved-on, traded C5 for an '06 MN6 w/ Z51 option.
Power increase between the 2 was noticeable + superior handling -due to Z51 made 6 feel much more agile, nimble & responsive.
Styling seemed easier on the eye too, 6's butt more in proportion w/ rest of car.
If you drive a C5 try a C6, your questions should answer themselves.
5 to 6 is a nice, affordable step-up IMO. YMMV

Ive owned a 2004 Z06 Z16 and a 2011 GS.
Interior - C6 wins, better fit and finish , quieter, better seats, better transmission and shifter stock.
Exterior- Draw both good looking cars, edge to the 2004 best blue on a vette.
Performance - My Z06 was the faster car in a straight line, I believe the LS6 HP was underrated at 405. My cars only have a difference of 100lbs curb weight , but .3 in 1/4. luck of the draw? If you compare the fast lists its about .5 difference in times C5 Z06 to the C6 GS.

the C5 was "revolutionary" too when it came out aside from HP GM was looking at things that most street people don't, as it applies to racing a lot of things are BEEFED UP year to year and generation to generation C6 to C7 the trunions where the A-arms mount are beefier, even tho I know of no one who broke one.

Had a 2000 coupe, now have a 2010 coupe. The C6 is a much more refined car, what I like best is my C6 is not going to be parked because of parts availability, not yet anyway. Really hate GM's position on not having parts for crucial operating systems available for our cars.

I moved from a 04 coupe to a 06 vert. Loved the C5 but after going with a buddy to buy his 06 vert I was hooked.
Like others it's more refined, fit and finish, the ride is just better. I do miss the storage in the coupe, but I do love the true top down days, here in the south it stays down most of the time. Overall never looked back or regretted the move up.
Yes I do like Yellow!

Had a 2000 convertible for six years, moved to a 2006 Z-51 convertible this year. My bride and I took 3,000 plus mile road trips in each car. C6 is a much quieter car noise wise. We actually preferred the C5 sport seats for comfort on the highway. Having a local upholstery shop work on the C6 seats to improve comfort.
C5 had Vararam CAI and Corsa axle back exhaust. Power in the C6 is noticeably better. Prior owner had LS7 dual mode exhaust system installed. The paddle shifter is a nice feature to stay in maximum torque zone.
Power top on the C6 is a definite plus. My bride had difficulty maneuvering the manual top on the C5 as she is petite and doesn't have a long reach.
We have enjoyed both cars. Wouldn't go back to the C5.

Have had 3 c5's and 3 c6's. Two c5z's one c5 convertible. One base ls3, one modified ls3 and now an 11 grandsport. I really feel that each copy of the corvette has its own character and cannot be relegated to the actual model. My first c5z had issues with heatsoak and rode very badly, my 2nd c5z had over a 1ook miles, but was the tightest, best handling and riding car I ever owned. My base ls3 car was kind of loose and sloppy...rattled a lot. My current grandsport is the best looking vette I have ever had and c7 owners are constantly staring at it at stop lights...it is pretty tight except for the roof creak which I still have not been able to totally solve...the handling is a little vague, so maybe I need new shocks or bushings or alignment, but car is very plush and feels like a cross between a luxury car and a sports car...it is my first auto and I love not having to shift...that said, as a drivers car my 2002 c5z with a 100k miles is much better..just has a shitty interior
