Default If You Are Gonna Ask A Forum Question..........

Fill out your information under your Avatar prior to doing so. Specifically, your location. This makes it sooooo much easier to reference someone or some place that can fix you up. It is really tough to answer a question like, "Where is the best place to get tires?" when we have no idea where you are located. Plus, it might help eliminate some smart *** responses that might show up......but I doubt it!
Other than that, enjoy one of the best forums available.

Oh...I got this. For this example I would post the obvious. "A tire store!" Seriously I do agree with you

I have no idea why people won't fill in a location.

I'm guessing they have a burning question they need answered right away. So they fill out the profile FAST so they can submit their question.

Been asking for this for two years...few do it. Even got chewed out by a forum member over asking someone to put in their info.

Newbies, especially, do not like to. We are all programmed to think that if you enter your city and state, everyone will know your ID, SSN, bad habits, criminal record, etc.

Holy Crap. This world is getting so #%€#*€ up! Living in constant fear. Sucks to be that way.
Keep buying junk on the internet. Then complain about identity theft.

I 've always thought that your profile should be filled out before you were allowed to post!

That would make it more user friendly for everyone.

Great idea, and I'd like to add another request:

When starting a thread, think of something a little more descriptive for the title than "Wow look at this!" or "Should I do this or not?"

I find myself clicking on these maybe just to see what the subject is, finding myself not interested, then seeing it come up a couple of days later and clicking AGAIN because I forgot what the actual subject was -- and of course there's no way of telling from the title.

This is just absolutely horrible. I don't have that much time left and I DON'T want to waste it on useless threads.

Darn it... now that you mention it, I need to make some updates.

I have recently completed intermediate ninja school. No belts or trophies, just a lot more throwing stars.

Thats it, everything else is the same. Carry on fellow vetters.

If the poster does not their location listed in their avatar they should not be allowed to post until the information is complete. It irritates me to no end when a poster makes a comment like "There are no good Corvette shops around here". Where is HERE?? I don't understand why the location is often missing.

Totally agree with this. I hate when people ask a question about where they can go get their headers done LOCALLY with no location posted. Also those seeking tire shops etc.

It is the same idea behind blanking you license plate number in pics. Folks think if they have your license number they can somehow magically hack something that will give them something that will tell them the information needed to access your bank and credit card info. Yet they are not blanked out while driving down the road.

That's crazy! I would NEVER let anyone see my license number or especially my REAL name!

Is this the sort of response the OP was referring to?
