When to stop modding your Vette?
Ok. I've been down that slippery slope of modifying my c5z for years and always wanting more performance. While it was fun and rewarding I'm only looking to do bolt on in the new c7 GS I just stepped into. So I spent several weeks thinking about my goals and what performance I want out of this car. My plan was to go slow as usual in the modification process and see where it takes me, and getting a feel for the car at each level.
Then it hit me.
I figured out... when to stop the mods.
It's the moment my kids stop saying moms car is faster. That's it! That's when I'm done.

Have fun...
When you stop having fun stop modding. For most of us we have enough power.
For the rest of us the aftermarket guys are doing a fine job of helping us to achieve our speed goals.
My last C6 Z went thru 2 Total rebuilds. Valve guides.
Soooo I'm done with this great new C7 Z.
Good luck scratching your itch

I bought the C7 ZO6, in the hope that it would be fast enough, that I could stop obsessively modifying my vehicles. Sold the pump-gas, nine-second dragboat about a month ago. Sold the 350 V-8 Chevy-powered Pontiac Fiero way before that. That car was a riot though, regularly beating cars on the Detroit street-racing scene that people brought in on trailers (I drove mine from my garage, and we even had well-functioning air conditioning on that car)
Kinda miss the Kawasaki with the 10-pound nitrous bottle strapped to the side, as well as the Fiero, but I don't have as much of a death wish as I once did.

Stop modding when the car leaves a dark streak in your underwear. Lol

Sorta there right now. The 650 rwhp I'm enjoying is amazing on 92 octane. Don't want to add Meth. Near 750 hp under the hood is along with great MPG. IF I do anymore it will be a larger blower.

Always been an n/a stick kinda guy.
If a mod can move it that would be great. I'll request.
You get a slightly different perspective from z06 owners because power is much less of a concern to most.

It's a never ending cycle. Just like death and taxes :P. You never ever stop modding... Whether it's tiny little things like adding carbon flash badges to ported/polished heads, cam, FI, etc. Best thing you can do is to spread it over time even though in the long run it costs more. Do 1 thing at a time and do another when the mod itch returns. Being able to stay within your "wants" when you first get the car is a lie. You will get to your initial planned mods done but then the mod itch returns and you end up wanting something else or something more. That just goes for every single car. There are ALWAYS things you CAN do lol. Even if it blows up things, rebuild it better! TLDR: Never ending cycle lol.

You stop the mods only when you're dead.
