08Z Headlight Flash Off Briefly
i noticed it when i first got the car, but it didnt happen that often.. coming to work at 530 in the morning i notice that both headlight will shut off for a brief second and then come back on. it seems to do it more when i hit a bump. dealership already did the recall on the headlights, but looking for some ideas i can check before i take it up to them
i read on another forum that an alternator could cause it, i do have some alternator whine in the stereo... loose battery connection could also cause it. i dont think it is the ballasts or the bulbs because it is both at the same time
anyone have suggestions? appreciate the time you took to read this

I'm sure you thought of this, sometimes I overthink things, did you have the issue before the recall? I finally had the recall done after talking to the mechanic because of the horror stories I read and he has done hundreds, huge dealership. Just a thought, maybe something just not secured with the wire he put in... Let us know

I have an 08 Base that does the same thing, the recall has been done. I have an extended warranty with GM. If you get an answer I would like to hear the solution. Thanx JAY

I go on vaca in a week and half, might drop it off at dealership for then to look at while i am gone.
I have "extended warranty" through safegaurd, they have taken care of things in the past for me, would imagine they would again. But at same time if its something i can fix i would prefer that, just dont know where to start

so this morning i noticed something, i was backed up close to a wall.... car in reverse, but sitting still. when i rolled up the windows, i noticed that the reverse lights would dim. then i turned on the map light, same thing when rolling the window up. making me think the alt is on its way out, and from what i read before this could cause issues with the headlights

Load test the battery first, most part stores will do this NC, and then have them check the alternator.

ran by VatoZone and they said the alt tested fine, but the battery is at 50%. a charger was delivered yesterday, will charge it up and see if it solves the problem

If that battery was at 50% charge, it's likely toast and will not hold a full charge any longer. I think you should just get a new battery and be done with it.

more than likely yeah. i am just delaying the inevitable because if the vette is like all my other cars..... i will have to set all the radio stations and seats again

edit, found it
After a power reconnect such as battery replacement, the
window index-up feature will not function until the system
is initialized. Once power is restored, do the following:
1. Close the door.
2. Raise the window by pulling up the switch.
3. Hold the up switch for three seconds after the
window is closed. Release the switch.
4. Hold the up switch again for three seconds and
release.
Remember to do both windows.
This is called resetting of the window indexing or power window initialize and is in the owner's manual. See page 2-17 of the 2005 owner’s manual, page 2-18 of the 2006 owner’s manual, page 87 of the 2007 owner’s manual, page 2-18 of the 2008 owner’s manual, page 2-18 of the 2009 owner's manual, page 3-18 of the 2010 owner's manual, page 2-18 of the 2011 owner's manual, or page 2-19 of the 2012 owner's manual.

well i am about to see if it is the battery, the cold weather is wiping mine out. if this doesnt keep the lights from flashing, i may just take it in to the dealership to have them diagnose it... still have about 9k miles on extended warranty

There is device that will retain your settings. Uses a 9V battery plugs into cigarette lighter. Or hook a battery the positive terminal or alternator and negative to a ground . disconnect battery install new, use caution the positive able is energized.

talked to the father in law just now, his son has access to something online for most faults. he was saying that it the recall has been done, that it is common that the entire fuse box is faulty. thinking i may get one
anyone else have thoughts on this?
