Default latest information on repair of EBCM C1214 code issues??

2002 Corvette Convertible
My issues started in 2014, have not repaired as yet. Dealership cost was way too high. Heard ABS Fixer places may be a scam. Wondering if additional fixes are available; and or disconnecting instructions for EBCM only and still drive car.

Some info on it, but I believe other problems can cause that code also.

ABSfixer is not a scam, just they cost $150 when you can do it yourself

I'm the author of the DIY thread and since the fix... I can't recall the exact number if years, but I've been trouble free since that day. With that in mind if you follow the DIY, code C1214 will not return so long as it was not an underlying issue, ie. solder on the relay posts. There's plenty of people who have done the fix with zero issues during or after.

All it takes is a little time, patience, and some general solder know how. Actually I think the most challenging part after so many have done this, is separating the soft metal EBCM box.

Thanks for the write up. I used that step by step and even though my soldering wasn't the best it's held up for a couple years now.

Ok I just got that code and I am NO solderer so if you would please explain the soldering process to this green horn! Do you just drip the melted solder onto the already soldered joints or try to melt and resolder them? Inquiring minds want to know. Thanks all (well most all of you have been a BIG help in learning)

You don't drip it, ideally you'd heat up the metal and have the solder pulled to the joint. On my board I just heated the joints long enough to basically smooth the solder out. I'd suggest you practice some first as those units are expensive to replace. Watch some YouTube vids also it'll give you a better idea to.

Default Intermittent

anyone have any experience with an intermittent C1214?

this is on a race car that is infrequently driven.

if you get it once, does it mean that EBCM relay is coming loose?

If practice on a piece of stripped wire you can see how it works n migrates filling the wire as you feed the solder.

My 04Z just started giving me this code last fall (17). It is intermittent, and does not seem to recur during cold seather. Does this message and code actually mean that eh ABS is NOT working when shown? When you restart the car it is gone, so does that mean that the ABS works now?
Thanks,
