so for the past 5 days the engine is running louder when idle and even louder when i am driving i have no idea why. after about 5 minutes of driving i get a dic message saying " Service Vehicle Soon". whats happening to my car? its a 2011 grand sport convertible with 38,000 miles. very sad to see this

Do you mean the engine sounds louder under the hood or out the back?
Best thing to do would be have it scanned for codes and see what's up.
You could also check that the plug wires are secure on the coils.

sounds like its under the hood with the check engine light on and dic message saying service vehicle soon. pretty disappointing. oil level is at 81 % and its Pennzoil ultra platinum 5w30

Retired & lovin' it!
READ THE CODES....READ THE CODES....READ THE CODES! You & everyone else are just making wild guesses unless you know what the on-board computer is telling you. Go to any "big box" auto supply store & they will read the codes at no cost. Only then can you start an intelligent diagnosis.

why do u guys keep saying at no cost? i called GM dealer 15 mins ago and they want to charge me $150 to check the codes as i have a higher tier corvette (grand sport) and is more expensive to diagnose. what makes u think another auto store will do it for free?

Advance Auto, Auto Zone, O'reilly, Pep Boys.. They all can read the codes. FREE!
Forget the oil % on the DIC. Did you check the oil level by pulling the dipstick? Did you listen to the engine with the hood open

Can u describe the noise? Does it sound normal, just louder than usual? Is there a ticking? Thumping? Grinding? Screeching? Funny smells? Other than the sound, does it drive funny (stalling, spitting and sputtering, erratic idle, down on power)?
Have you done anything recently to the car or had any work done?

I don't say this to hurt your feelings, but if your GM dealership told you that you have a "higher tier Corvette and it's more expensive to diagnose", then they are taking advantage of your gullibility. That is total BS!!
You need to get your Corvette to a shop that understands Corvettes...NOW! Hard telling what damage you are doing by continuing to drive the car with warning lights and error messages coming up.
