JDS99 and I have been tossing around the idea of building a very simplified twin turbo kit for a while.
Simplified meant for the most part:
Easy access to the turbos
Very limited exhaust piping
Air filters but no inlet piping if possible
Gravity drain
Make use of available exhaust manifolds
No major relocation of accessories or systems
A mishap on May 13th presented the opportunity to take things in a different direction. This will be the build thread where we make lemons out of lemonade.
Money spent in the right places, without a doubt. HP/$ figure should be outstanding. Hurry up so you can give me a reason to build another setup for mine lol
Thanks. The fedex store was located inside Wal-Mart and I just couldn't resist the opportunity. I was walking through the store with two turbos and thinking this is probably one of the priciest boxes that has ever fit in their shopping cart.

Thanks for all of the help and advise so far. I wouldn't have covered as much ground this quickly without your input. Every time I complete another step, I can tell the gears are turning and we are seeing the reality of how this kit is going to work.
As mentioned, I've been discussing building something like this for a little while now. There are a few options out there these days for turbo kits that are readily available but I kept coming back to the idea of locating the turbo in the fender and routing the downpipe right out the fender. This picture probably shows the concept the best and is where the pro mod style name originates. The front half chassis mods on this car are a little farther than I want to go at this point, but the car will be getting a front engine plate this go round.
Like all of us, he started out as a test and tune, then brackets, then just a little faster.
I think he's been 4.1x or so. I watched him run about 6 4.2x passes in a row winning the ODR class at Yellow Bullet Nats a few years back. It's a beautiful car.

You should see it now that DMC just stuffed the Hemi in there...
I know most cars like that will never see any street use...but dont the turbos smoke like **** at that angle ?
or are they pretty tolerant of running like that ?
A friend has a car and his is mounted at a relatively small incline and on occasion is very noticeably smokey. But it's nowhere near the angle of those. ( His does make very good oil pressure too though, dry sumped etc so that could be a factor )

A bunch of race cars with their turbos mounted like that and I have never seen them smoke. I would guess it's their drysump/vac pump helping them out. They could also know something we don't lol.
