Default Retirement

I finally made it to retirement two weeks ago. We sold our house in Mukilteo and moved to our new house in Surprise, AZ. We drove the Z06 down the Oregon coast and then cut inland to I5. It is still hot in AZ but it should start cooling down from broil to bake soon. I'm looking forward to 9 months a year of good weather vs maybe 3 months of good weather in WA. We have a lot of settling in to do but we now have all the time we need to do it. Hopefully I will meet some other corvette owners here in a GTG setting. I am going to miss the GTG gang in WA but I plan to lurk on this forum so I can keep up with Poodle Girl's shenanigans.

Enjoy that well earned retirement Bruno. If it wasn't so hot down there in the summer I might move that way myself. I guess that's what AC is for.

I hope you enjoy your retirement.
A friend of mine lived in Surprise. I visited him a few times and it was not for me. It is way too hot in the summer although the weather is pretty good from late October to early April. You should be able to find a lot of Corvette owners down there and get a lot of driving in.

I've enjoyed your company over the last several years, Bruno (and the help with the garage doors!). You and Gail enjoy your well-deserved retirement and getting to drive a lot of newer scenery down there in Arizona.

I take exception to only three months of good weather here though - I grew up in Alaska where the Corvette season was really only about 3 months, 5 if you were lucky. At least here I can actually drive my Vette 11.5 months a year!

Best to you both.

Aaron

Congratulations, Bruno. Retirement is a wonderful way of life. Hope you'll be sure to join the old gang whenever you're in town. At the rate the "unclub" is aging, we're thinking of organizing some sort of weekday event where we get together weekly (not weakly, hopefully) and park in sight of Walter's office and sit in lawn chairs and drink beer while waving to him.

When we're done with Walter, we'll simply relocate to Aaron's workplace. Of course by the time he retires they'll be cleaning up the parking lot of rusty lawn chairs with the skeletons sitting in them.

And remember: just because you're getting older doesn't mean you have to grow up.

You will notice the car scene in AZ is nothing at all like Seattle or any other place in Washington. If you think E@RTC is nice you really have to check out;

Every Sunday we have a small car show in Fountain Hills, Concourse in the Hills is off the hook: http://www.concoursinthehills.org/

You will love it in AZ!

Congratulations on your Retirement!!! Enjoy your life now.

I did it 2 years ago. Now I have the best retirement job. Converting IPA and Crown Royal into urine.

I plan to do the same thing but I am going to brew my own beer once I get unpacked and set up again. Unpacking with my new nap schedule and with football season starting might take a while.

With you and Walter as my role models there is no danger of that happening!

I am going to miss the GTG BBQ's at your place and your company for sure. We are definitely planning to put some miles on the Z checking out a lot of new areas.

Let me know when you come down here to visit your friend. We will get a beer (or two or three or).

AC is mandatory here. My garage is not insulated. I am going to have to do something about that.
