Out of Warranty 2010 Grand Sport Problems
I have a 2010 Grand Sport with 28k miles. I recently had my last free oil change under the GM certified car program. On the way home my traction control light comes on (about a block away) and then the engine starts running extremely rough. Code says MAP sensor. I replace it with no change. It was making all kinds of wierd noises as I barely pulled in the driveway. Long story short, no compression on #6. HAS ANYONE had any luck dealing with GM when their car was out of warranty?

Remove your fuel rail covers and check for a plug wire off at the coil. I had the same issue. Number 7 cylinder wire had come off.

I agree with the posts above. It should be an easy fix of reattaching spark plug wire.

If you have no compression then it's not a plug wire. Did you verify via a compression test or are you just throwing out a term you heard?
- reattach plug wire....free
- no compression...$$$$

My 10 Grand Sport blew the motor with 34,000 so I feel your pain. GM offered nothing but an apology!

Yes, I got a GM crate motor. It was the bearings let the crank move forward and grind into the block. I asked to see it but they had crated up the old motor and wouldn't open it back up so I really don't know.

Very rare to have compression just "go out" while driving with no prior symptoms. If it is a lack of compression, id suspect you ingested something thats leaving a valve open..or a valve spring/rocker arm is broken. Especially if you didnt hear any catastrophic noises prior. Check the plug wires as previously suggested. Pull a plug, see if theres metal deposits on it.. Pull the valve cover, see if there are broken springs or rocker arms.

So if I understand the op correctly, He had an oil change done at the dealership & on the way home from that dealership about a block away the engine fails for apparently no reason !! ...HMMMM ... something the dealership did or failed to do possibly ?? hard to believe that a LS3 engine just fails like that.....

wow, i missed that. Yeah, very rare if its "coincidence". Some tech forgot to add oil? Dont know why it wouldnt throw a low oil pressure light if that was the case though...
