GS #003 today........Los Altos, CA
Beautiful day here today for the annual 'Corvette Spectacular' car show. The event us held each September on Mian st in downtown Los Altos.
Corvettes of all generations and stripes whether stock, modified, NCRS, or resto mod attend the show.
This year a special car attended the show. Always great to see a special car of historic significance.

I saw this Grand Sport regularly when it was owned and raced by the John Mecom organization. I raced against it's former owners (Bob Patterson, and Susan Armstrong's husband, Tom Armstrong) many times over the last 20 or so years./ The car is immaculately prepared, is authentic, and is amazingly fast!!! The current owner is I believe, Larry Bowman.

I have looked at a lot of rare Corvettes but never looked at a REAL grand sport. Being a novice to these cars has anything been altered over the years?

It was at HAN last month in Reno parked directly across the street from my '64 at the downtown show.
It's a very classy piece.

At the Bloomington Gold Special Collection, about 1988 (I think), Bob Patterson was kind enough to allow me to sit in the car and my wife take a picture of me. No, I wasn't drunk ..................it was 11:30 that night after everyone had cleared out, plus I had been "strolling" around the show all day in 90+ degree heat, so I was exhausted. What an honor. Thank you Bob Patterson.

The owner detuned it for the street, but it still sounds mean as hell. He's generous enough to let others enjoy seeing it. Here's a pic from a few years ago when us Corvette club people met him and got to get close to the car. My green '67 is beside the Grand Sport along
with a friend's '60.

The chassis of this car was on display at the 1980 NCRS meet at San Mateo in the Hotel Dunphy lobby when ZAD walked over and declared it to have the wrong-sized Webers mounted. Looked great then, too.

Is this the same car that Richard Buxbaum had restored and had at Bloomington back in the late 70s? That car was red at that time.

In post #8 the car had a 427 ZL-1 engine in it, thus the shorty headers. It DID sound good when he started it in the auditorium that night.
