Default horn assembly

Hello guys.

To make a long story short i have a 78 vette that doesnt have tilt or telescopic column, i bought the car already completely gutted to fix windshield header. EVERYTHING and i mean everything was taken apart on interior, including the column. I have what they call the nova wheel. Ironically its the exact same wheel as my old camaros had, 4 post instead of three, internally, the horn assembly, like the actual horn button you press is missing the plate or whatever they use to spring the button back. Does anyone have a picture of the flex plate or spring/spring plate that keeps the horn pad up??
I cant find any decent pics to see what they use in these wheels. Thanks.

Also, i took one out of an old gm truck that i thought may work but it doesnt seem to bounce or spring properly. It has 3 holes and flexs when you press the horn down.

see if this is what you are looking for, you may want to consider purchasing an AIM to get your car back together.

I got excited for a minute.. Thought you found a pic of part needed... But no, thats for tilt wheel, closest drawings i could find online where for an early monte carlo...but they are just 40 year old drawings , cant see much in way of fabricating anything. The car is already all back together, even horn assembly, i added a spring between cover and sterring bolt to lift it away. Would just like to see what belongs.

Here's the link that helped me out. Remember when you install the horn contact brush you will need to trim off some of the little rod that fits on top of the spring that makes contact with the horn contact on top. If you don't it will be too long.

Here is the parts....from a z28 list. I have them all the same as mine....is it correct for a vette??

Here is a z28 wheel....identical to mine.

Here is the drawing...piece number 5 is what i already have but doesnt seem to work correctly...
Also, you can can see the white plastic ring is not in the drawing.

It could be that you have a standard column for a 1976 Corvette...because not every 1976 Corvette came with a tele-tilt column. Almost all of them...but not all of them.

Its a 78..and yes its a standard column, i know that there are quite a few pics of 78's online that do sport the standard column, but there isnt any good actual pics of internal parts, thats all. The pieces i took out of an 84 truck work, but seem not to have the proper amount of spring, and match the z28 pictures of parts, but was curious if a vette was different. Whoever had the car before me had added a bypass switch for horn, likely because they couldnt get it working, ive got everything working fine, fixed all the bugs, except this one piece. Seems just not quite right....

You seem to be dedicated in getting things fixed to your liking..and I am sure that you will get this just the way you want it.

The steering wheel you posted a photo of was only used on ONE year Corvette...and that is a 1976 Corvette.....just in case you may not know that.

That wheel was used on 76 tilt and 76 thru 79 standard column. Go here for Jim Shea's papers.

Its feels perfect with your right hand gripping the lower right spoke and pressing with your thumb....who could ask for more!!!! Lol....maybe i could hammer the plate perfect and shave the horn pin dowel a thirty-seconds to make it like new...it is parts from an 84 1 ton in there....hahahaha

Believe it or not a couple OWNERS ago actually dissasembled the turn signal switch, terminal hooks and all...i had to put all 14 wires back to it....worked fine....since then i grabbed the signal assembly from afore mentioned truck. Completely different wire colors....exact same blueprint, works as it should in a 78 vette with a standard coloumn.

But the original is whats in there.
