I need the correct wiper blades for my 89 C$ that don't hit the engine hood
have tried some of the suggestions in here but none worked. have returned 4 sets so far
they need to be about 3-4 millimeters shorter
the hood lip from the windshield is 30 mm and some of the things I buy online that say original parts "are not"
need help
Thanks so much
Are you sure your hood is properly adjusted and there is no front end damage on your Corvette? Even minor damage that you might not notice can move the rear of the hood back and/or down. Wiper clearance issues are often an indication of that.
I'd go with AC-Delco 89019 or 89919 beam type blades. If you drive it in serious winter weather, AC-Delco 83319 might be even better for winter use. If those don't fit, look for the reason why they don't fit. I'm fairly certain they fit on other C4 Corvettes with no issues. Perhaps other C4 owners can chime in about that. If they don't fit yours, then yours is somehow "special" (not necessarily in a good way).

OK I will try those and Yes there is small front end damage ( I bought the car that way ) but to me it doesn't look bad enough to move the hood down, just moved the front bumper but possibly your correct. My son and I were starting to think hood might be an issue I just need 3 mm dammit
Thanks for the input

You don't mention any that you tried "specifically" - you just mention "I've tried".
For an '89 I'd think you do one of these 3 choices only Trico 20-2, ACD 8-2202 or buy OE/GM that are likely still available. NONE OTHER THAN THESE - If you've issues with these you've issues that blades ain't gonna fix!
**** I wouldn't expect any mentioned in post# 2 to work!

Look at the gap between the front edges of the doors and the lower body work, as well as between the front edges of the doors and the hood. If the hood is closer (smaller gap) than the lower body work, the hood has been pushed back, causing your clearance issue.
There's usually a few millimeters of "adjustability" (available "slop") in the mounting holes that you can slightly loosen some bolts and move panels to get things to work. It might just need adjustment where the hood is attached to the hinges, or you might need to loosen other fasteners and move all the front bodywork forward a bit, including the hood, upper core support and bumper. Loosen bolts just enough (usually about a quarter turn or less) that you can move the parts with some effort, and tighten them all back down when everything fits better.
The Trico 20-2 fit perfectly on on 90. Bought from Rock Auto. Check to see if they still have them on sale.

I used the Trico 20-2 on my '87 and they cleared the hood easily. IIRC, I bought them at a local AutoZone but they should also be available wherever Trico wipers are sold.

I so wish that was true. About who has them. Oreilly said they could not get them. Autozone had to order. Advance had to order. CARQUEST had them on the shelf. Maybe it's just here. Of those four chains we have over 20 stores, only one stocks them.

Get the right OEM metal wiper blades and be done with it!
These are genuine AC-Delco metal wiper blades, like the ones your C4 came from the factory with. They work great, won't fall off and will clear the hood just like the OEM ones did. If these don't work you have other problems;
I got my OE blades from the nearest Chevy dealership parts dept, believe it or not. They were no more expensive, and they fit properly and don't catch on the hood.
With summer here... Just to give a more current update on the hardship of finding wiper blades for a 90 ZR-1's and C4's....
I just bought out the last of the stock at RockAuto last week. Yes, they were still giving them away, almost
However, I also found a stash on eBay and, as of the date of this posting, they still have some left. I bought (4) pair and they are the NAPA version but just like the Trico. More expensive than the clearance at RA but... https://www.ebay.com/itm/263221481044
Gonna have to replace the blades on my '90 soon, as well. Even though the car never sees rain if I can avoid it. A couple of times I've been caught in a passing shower, though.
I've found that the 20'' blades overlap the pillar when on high speed, and maybe even on normal speed; I don't recall. And I have the linkage adjusted all the way down as far as it will go.
I don't have that problem with 19'' blades, so that's what I'll be looking at.
