1/4 inch opening should be enough to take a stiff wire, like coat hanger, and try to hook it or push into a different position.
If that doesn't work, hang car by rear bumper and tap on the compartment door.
Still no luck, get a new cell phone.

Dealer should charge about $300 to take it apart and put back together. Rick Conti had a video on this a few wees ago about a guy who had a stuck handgun.

If it is on vibrate, call it. Might vibrate loose.

Melting Slicks
Excellent.
Also find a safe place where you can do high-G turns to right, to left, and zigzagging right to left. You should be able to get close to 1 G on braking and turning, and there's a good chance that will jar loose your phone.
Good luck.
PS: Hanging the car by the back bumper wouldn't produce any more G force than a panic stop, so don't bother.

Drifting
Wow! Had the same issue one month ago when my cell phone lodged against the screen. I fooled around with a wire hanger for about an hour before I drove the car to the dealer for help. The tech took the car into the service area and dislodged the phone within ten minutes. What a relief!! I was told that the only way to get into the compartment was by taking dash down.

PROOF: That is what caused the cup insert to dump a full water bottle in my September 2013 built C7 soon after I got it! The insert tilts! Since, have removed the 3/32 inch thick rubber inert in the recess (it just pulls out) and glued the insert to the base! Water bottle holds in 1 "g" turn and well past a 1 "g" Stop! Made that mod in my Grand Sport as well!

Go Canes!
I got my Glock 43 stuck in there. I had to use a couple of screwdrivers to prop it up and was finally able to open it. I won't be doing that again any time soon.

Sheesh... seems there is a lesson here for all, given the number of reported incidences. Thankis for the heads-up, guys!!!

I no longer put much of anything in the "nifty" compartment. My phone got stuck the first day I had the car which of course freaked me out. After 30 minutes of fidgeting with a coat hanger, I finally got it out, but don't want to go through that again.
