Spark Plug wire replacement
I have a 68 small block (base engine) with AC. I recently decided to go to petronics and purchased new plug wires as they were recommended for the Ignitor III. I installed the new wires on the driver side but the two wires on the passenger side closest to the front of the engine seem impossible to get to. Does anyone have any tricks or suggestions?

Even from under the car it seems impossible. I have it jacked up but the shield that covers the two front wires is bolted into the mount on one side (I can get to that), but on the other side the shield is under the starter so I can not even see the bolt holding it on. Will I need to remove the starter?Seems crazy.

No need to remove the 'boomerang'.
Remove wire 2 or 4 from the distributor and pull off the boot.
Tie a string to the wire and go to the plug end and pull it out.
Remove the boot on the new wire and tie the string on it.
Pull it back up and replete on the other wire.

changing plug wires
I just replaced the wires on my 75 and came upon the same problem. I pulled the starter off and it went real smooth. Not a fun task but while you are down there you can check for wear and tear on your starter wires.

Hey Peterbuilt, great advice!!! I was able to change the four on the passenger side using your advice in just 90 minutes. Thanks for saving me a world of pain.
