Thanks for the Memories
Well, after 43 years of owning Corvettes (went through a total of 15 different ones) I went to the dark side yesterday. I now drive a 2017 Mustang GT convertible.
It was a tough decision, but, as a DD the Corvette is not as useful as I would have expected. Coupled with the fact that I will break the 70 y/o barrier, it was getting harder for both the wife and I to get in/out of the car. Plus, the interior noise on the highway was starting to annoy both of us. The car wasn't as exciting as when we were younger. I didn't want to add a third car as a DD since we are retired.
I want to thank the Corvette Forum moderators and members who, through out many of the years, have provided useful information and answered numerous questions. I wish all Corvette owners well and remember to Save the Wave! John
PS: I may still have some items to sell in the For Sale section when I can sort through it all!

While I'm not sure I'm ready for a Mustang, and there are some really nice ones, I am getting to the point that the C6 isn't as thrilling as it used to be and wondering what my next step is. The C7 with the A8 is out so if the next gen Corvette doesn't grab my attention, I wonder what I am going to do.
Thanks for your post.

Congrats and good luck on your new ride. I had 3 Mustangs through the years. I am not a total fan for Fords, yet the Mustang is a timeless and fun car to drive and modify to your own personal taste. It's almost like it's a separate entity from their whole brand. I always love the exhaust note Mustangs have. I also am feeling blessed having my C6.

Enjoy the Mustang. I am impressed with the looks of the new model but not so much with the interior. Have only seen one up close. I also like the sound of the GT.

I've seen people trade in Corvettes for various makes and models, Porsche was the only one that didn't make me cringe.

LOLOL....I've got to chuckle as i'm well over 60. I'm quite familiar with change of taste. I was simply thinking that I got my first vette back when I was in my late 20's. Even at that age it only took me about 6 months to realize that while I love the Corvette, and will own one until my final days, the Corvette leaves much to the imagination when it comes to practicality......

Ironically after I parted company with the last of my muscle cars in the early 1980's it has been nothing but station wagons, vans and economy commuter cars until a C6 entered our lives last fall. Hard to get in and out of, yes! since my wife and I both have bad hips and arthritis but the sheer fun and joy we get out of it and with ours makes it all worthwhile. My wife had a 14 hour drive bringing the Corvette home and was sad that she had to park it and get out of it when she finally got home.
My wife actually has a handicap parking permit and I find it quite amusing seeing the double takes of having a Corvette in a handicapped parking spot. I recently had someone freak out and start yelling at us about parking in a handicap spot until they saw the hanger on the mirror.
Enjoy your new ride.

May the force be with you even tho you have indeed turned to the dark side! : ) I'm a few years behind you in age and know the inevitable day is gonna come for me as well when it is too much of a physical hardship to get in and out of the awesome Corvette. My previous Vette was a 1969 back in the mid 70's when I was in my late teens early 20s and weighed 80 lbs less. I'm often astonished at how much lower my 2012 GS CE is and how much more difficult it is getting in and out of. I can't even begin to consider using it as a daily driver as I did my 69 as there are sooo very many places I don't have the ground clearance to get into or out of here in town. Enjoy the heck out of your new ride!
