Default Z06 RPM overrun

My 2017 Z06 automatic hold the RPM's for 1-2 seconds after a shot of acceleration. A little concerning when it's so tail happy.

I'm pretty sure they are programmed that way, to make it easier to shift into the next gear...My M7 does the same thing...I'm sure someone else can give you the 'official' reasoning...but I don't find it to be dangerous at all. I like it.

Yeah, I haven't had any dangerous moments, but I hadn't experienced that in any other performance car I've owned.

In your mind it might feel like 2 seconds. In reality it is a split second at most. I haven't had a problem with it in over 2 years on my 2016 A8,

You're probably right. As long as it's normal, I won't worry about it. Thanks

Really? I haven't noticed it, and that was one of my big problems with the twin-turbo Mercedes I had: you'd lift the throttle and the engine would lift about a second later, very disconcerting with 600+hp.

Which drive mode where you in? If you were in "Sport", I believe you were noticing the effects of PAL (Performance Algorithm Liftfoot). If you were in "Track", then I believe it's the effects of PAS (Performance Algorithm Shift). See the "Driver Mode Control" section in the "Ride Control Systems" section of the Owners Manual. This is on Page 197 of the 2016 Owners Manual.

Just stop tailgating and you should be ok.

I was in Sport mode. I'll need to do some research on Liftfoot - only had the car 2 weeks. Thanks.

There is a delay in response when getting off the throttle. I don't care for it either.

When the car is under boost, you have a large volume of pressurized air trapped between the rotors and the intake valves. When you let of the gas, all that air is still pressurized(even though the bypass valve opens and that does drop the psi a little). It takes a short second for the engine to use that trapped pressurized air, and settle back to ambient air pressure to feed the engine that is regulated by the throttle body.

My aftermarket supercharged "throttle-by wire" C5 didn't do it, nor did my roots-blown 502 Chevy. It may be an emissions-tuning thing.

The feeling was very disconcerting to me at first but I am getting used to it …… still I would prefer the thing to shut off when I let off ….

My Z06 made right at 800 RWHP and it was scary as hell.
Big negative numbers in the upper right hand corner of the Driver Demand tables took care of it.
