Default I Finally Did It

Off on my road trip part of which was seeing Wild Bill Hickock's grave in Deadwood, SD. Had to parallel park for the first time in years and sure enough, scraped about 6 inches of a back rim. Figured it had to happen sooner or later. Is there a "prescription" for repairing a black factory wheel?

I thought this was a thread for I Finally Bought a C7.

Depending on the extent of the damage it can be repaired. Go to a good body shop or wheel / tire store.

Hi Pete !

Sorry to hear of your wheel scrape....... On day 2, I cut a corner too close in a parking lot on our former (brand new) Hyundai Azera and scraped a wheel.

This is a national franchise company, which did an OUTSTANDING job on repairing my wheel for about $125. Might be worth checking them out.

Nice to be chatting with you about something OTHER than the dreaded WARBLE

Richard

I've always wanted to visit Deadwood being an old west history buff and antique Winchester collector. Did you enjoy Deadwood?

Two main things to see there. The Adams Museum is very good with a great deal of historical display. My other goal was visitig Wild Bill Hickock's grave. As she requested, Calamity Jane lies next to him. .

50 miles away is Mt. Rushmore and The Crazy Horse Moument which has one of the best Native American exhibits I've ever seen.

One other thing. The roads in the area through The Black Hills are excellent. Miles and miles of twisting curves and hills. You'll know why you bought a Corvette when you drive that area.

Sorry to hear about the wheel damage, but there are a number of companies that can repair a wheel to where it looks as good as new. Check with your dealer, a higher end tire store or a body shop - they should all have someone they use for that type of repair.

I parallel park all the time. When you think you're not close enough to the curb, you are.
Tire lip saved me a few times.
Plenty of places out there to repair the injury.

Whenever I parallel park I adjust the right mirror (way down) so I can see the curb and the tire.

Sorry to hear. I used to ding up my wheels on other cars. It is much easier to PP with this car with the rear camera with trajectory shown and red line telling you where you will hit. I am happy to say I haven't nicked one yet. Spend some time practicing using the camera and you will find it is a breeze.

Happy to hear the trip was a success. Deadwood is an interesting place for a town that's heydays were just 3 years long. We just got back from there 2 weeks ago.

FYI you can set your car up so that one or both of the side view mirrors tilt down automatically when you put your car in reverse....keep an eye on where the curb is relative to the rim.
