Default Any Ideas ?

Hello........I left both Key pods inside my 2013 427 vert. Battery is completely dead, not allow me to open doors. any trick to getting doors or truck open without keys ? I been having trouble with a drain on the battery, I replaced battery in car and both key pods and thought I had it resolved.......I guess not ! Thanks John

You could take your title to the dealer and have them cut you another key.

I'll bite. If you have been having battery drain issues in the past WHY would you put and leave both fobs in the car?

Call your local towing company. They should be able to get you back in with special tools we carry.

I believe you can remove the left tail light (torx). Maybe remove both lights. Reach in and remove the lining, and grab the emergency release lever on top of the drivers rear tire.

You don't have any extra keys in the house or something? If not, then whoever suggested above getting a spare cut by a GM dealer sounds like the easiest solution.

I have 3 spare keys.

Glad for the "happy ending."

Q: What is a "DW"?

There is at least one (probably several) threads here about how to track down parasitic battery drains.

Do you have the Mild to Wild mod installed. It has been noted that with one option to install it will pull a draw on battery when in storage. There is a work around on their site to ensure this does not happen.

Just throwing this out there.

Jim

I'm guessing Dear Wife. Could also mean Dim Wit But probably not. In this case, maybe that's what she called him.

And anyway, doesn't every vette owner put their cars on a trickle charger?

Thanks Jim........yes the previous owner did have the Mild to Wild installed, thanks for the tip, gives me a good place to start looking. What ever it is, it's taking a heavy draw, fully charged ( new) battery only holds a charge for a few days. John

Been called that a few times too, lol. I did buy a Jr. Trickle charger, didn't think I'd have to use it between weekend drives. I will try to track down the cause of the drain before relaying on the trickle charger... Again thanks for the help everyone, makes us ( me ) first time vette owners appreciate our toys even more ! I`ve had this happen to me and charged the car from underneath. Positive on the starter negative on the body.

Usually one doesn't if only a few days, unfortunately yours has a parasitic draw.
Ideally it's the M2W; which, has a work-around.

Made it SOP hooking-up my Z06 every time it's parked.
Just good policy, if car doesn't start it won't be because of a dead battery.

Since I use an air ionizer plugged-in to cigarette lighter whenever car's parked also I'm sure it'd kill my battery in a day or 2 w/o a trickle charger, anyway.

Couple things...
As stated, from underneath the car hook positive jumper on the starter and ground the other;
A locksmith/tow truck driver can put an air wedge in the side window to enable a "lasso" to grab the floor door release.
Besides the mild to wild there a number of posts about on-star drawing power.
And, of course, the obvious...you aren't leaving a radar detector/Bluetooth/whatever plugged in...are you?

Couldn't a thief do the same thing?
