Default 1984 z51 4+3- $3,000

It's time to pass my '84 on to a new home after doing extensive work on it. It is a silver/gray manual transmission, Z51-package car that runs and drives well. It has a clean title and 105k miles. Everything mechanically is completely original and works on the car and it runs, drives, stops and steers without issue.

The bad:
The car was sitting outside, which is reflected in its largely faded paint which is bubbling in places. It also has a cracked windshield and needs new tires. The interior carpeting is partially soiled (rear, under hatch), and there is a tear on the passenger seat leather. The horn has been jury-rigged with a button on the upper right corner of the dash. Parts of the digital dash are faded, but it is legible. The heater works on all but one fan speed and the AC is weak but has been converted to R134. The hatch struts are shot. While the OD works, I can't get the filler plug off the overdrive unit myself, and the fluid is likely old. The fuel filler door is also a mismatched color as the original was taken as I was replacing fuel pump and I ordered the incorrect color.

The good:
Car runs, drives, shifts, steers, and stops well
Does not leak or burn anything
New Delphi fuel pump/Bosch strainer
New Interstate battery
New rebuilt OEM starter
New oil pan gasket (Per P.O. receipts provided for all)
New transmission pan gasket (Per P.O.)
New ball joints (Per P.O)
New steering rack (per P.O.)
New ignition parts (per P.O.)
New clutch master cylinder
New clutch slave cylinder
New clutch line
Recent shocks (Gabriel)
Replaced gear oil (Amsoil GL-4)
Fresh oil change (Amsoil 10W40 high zinc)
New wix fuel filter
New AC Delco air filter
Ignition parts are AC Delco and seem fairly new
Coolant flushed
Fully flushed P/S fluid
Exhaust and frame free of rust
Underside of car looks clean
Replaced headlights, function perfectly
Windows work (passenger side might be loose)
Doug Nash 4+3 MK2 works well
No water leaks into car

Please let me know if I can provide further detail. I apologize for the lack and poor quality of photos and will try to take more this weekend.

Nick

Default FS (For Sale) 1984 z51 4+3- $2,900

Bump for a price drop to $3,000. The car began stalling when I take the car out of gear and put it in neutral the last time I drove it (to show it to a potential buyer, ironically). I am looking for the source of the problem, but I am changing the price in the meantime to reflect the current issue. I have attached some more photos below.

Bump for an update. I cleaned up the IACVs and the car is driving properly again; however, I will leave the price at $3,000. Also, is there any way that I can update the price in the title to reflect the drop? Thanks.

I wish distance and lack of a trailer wasn't a factor for me as I would absolutely swipe this car up in a second. Man...an '84 Z51 car with a 4+3 -- exactly what I've been keeping my eyes open for. It's a terrific color combo to boot.

Best of luck with your sale, this is a good deal!!!

Thank you for the kind words. I just hope it goes to a good home; if only I were closer, although then I might have had space for this car! This sale will enable me to get my '85 straightened out and hopefully usable as an everyday car once again. Good luck in your search!

To add to the listing, I am willing to mount and balance new tires should the new owner provide them. I have the car listed solely on here for now as I would prefer to sell it to the right person, but there is no reason why this car should not be enjoyed come springtime. I will try to upload video footage of the car driving before next week. Finally, it turns out that the A/C blows cold air.

Nick

Man I wish this were a better time for me. Been wanting an 84 with a 4+3 and Z51. I settled on my 86 4+3 non Z51 car because I couldn't find exactly what you have. If we were closer I'd love to work something out.

I wish I could help the distance factor. But there's plenty you can do with your '86; similar to my '85, I never had an issue with TPI and there are suspension mods out there!

Edit: By the way, does anyone know how I can edit the title to show the current price in the header?

It's something about the 84's that I love. My first C4 was an 84 4spd and while I enjoy the power difference of the 86, I think I just want another 84. I have 13 cars and still want an 84. The last 84 I had was a rescue car that I got talked out of in trade for a Porsche 944. The one before that was my first that I regrettably sold when times were tough back in 2009.

Sorry for the late reply. They are definitely neat cars and have a certain "first year" charm. 944s are also cool looking cars with the widened quarters, but I have never been behind the wheel of one.

The car is still for sale but I can't offer the free tire mounting and balancing for much longer as I will not have access to the equipment after this month.

Price drop to $2,900. This is the final price drop as I will need to simply hold onto this car and drive it instead of my daily driver that needs to be fixed with the proceeds. I can tenuously offer free tire replacement for the next few weeks, but I will not be able to do so after this month.

If someone is able to tell me how to change the title appearing in the subforum to reflect the current price, I would very much appreciate it. Thank you.

To Edit your original post to change the price:

Step One - locate the EDIT button on the lower right corner of the last picture of your FIRST post - it will look like this:

Now go to the lower right corner again, and find the GO ADVANCED button - it will look like this:

Click the GO ADVANCED button and all sections of your original post will now be editable, including the title...

Sorry for the late response! Here they are. Sorry about the oily residue, there was an old bottle of VR1 with a leaky cap in the storage compartment.

I was heading to look at this car back in January when it started having running problems again. Luckily the seller caught me before I left the house. He told me that if I wasn't interested, he had it sold to a guy who wanted it shipped to OH if I remember right. Because I was going to have to drive it 2 hrs to get it home, I passed on the deal and I'm sure it was immediately sold to the other guy.

Hi, I'm afraid that in my time living away from the car, it has taken some time to work out its departure. The '84 is still in my possession, but I have simply been unable to pass it on or dedicate any time due to current circumstances. Unfortunately, it was damaged (albeit not too severely) in a careless parking hit-and-run several weeks back. I will definitely be in touch should any change arise in the status of the sale but circumstances have simply made this a complex undertaking! I appreciate your understanding and apologize for any ambiguity.

Nick
