Default Lingenfelter/turbo/supercharger reliability

I frequently do track days with my stock C5 Z, about a dozen a year in addition to vintage racing I do with other cars.

I've been kicking around the idea of either having a supercharged motor built from the ground up, or buying a Lingenfelter twin-turbo C5. I doubt that anyone here tracks a Lingenfelter, but any ideas on reliability of blown motors in general when used for track use? And how reliable are C5 Lingenfelters in street use? I know there was a controversial thread on this years ago on this forum.

By the way, was the 427 twin turbo really a $50,000 motor back in 2005? It seems crazy to me that Lingenfelter charged that much for an engine.
