Default ACP carbon fiber

Considering buying an ACP carbon fiber hood but every pic I see of them shows them painted nor in the raw. Does anyone have any experience with there carbon parts and does the carbon fiber look good enough to be left unpainted, I’d assume so.

Thanks R

Default ACP Carbon Fiber

I have been having my hood now for 7 years with no issues. Paint shop said little prep before ready for paint. Here are some pics.

^Excellent reply.
I live in Jacksonville, Fl. which is a similar climate to Huston.
We get ridiculous rainfall at times. As much as I would like to vent the engine bay with a hood like this, I always thought it would be equivalent to dumping a 5 gallon bucket of water on the engine. Is this a problem?

Is yours ever out in the rain?

My car is rarely out in the rain. From my experience very little water intrusion...even when washing.

When you got the hood could you have run it just as it came or did you have to paint? I’d like to have the hood left just carbon and clear coat. Were are you in Houston? I’m on north west side.

You have to paint it. It comes raw like it pics. You have to clear coat the center over lay just for the CF to show.
I located in Sterling Lakes, Rosharon TX.

cool, so they are exposed carbon on top... I tried to call awhile back to ask that question but no one would pick up the phone, the other number listed on their site was disconnected, and their site was not working to let you send them a message... are they even around anymore??

Beautiful hood but a horrible website! That looks to be the next best thing to the MCM hood which is not made anymore.

What you see in the pic is the way it came. I had to take a wet rag and wipe the hood to see the CF. Once you clear coat the hood it will show.

that's cool, if a hood has been painted do you think it's possible to sand it down and reclear it to bring back the exposed carbon look?

I don't know. Why would someone paint over it? Only reason I can think of is to cover defect or damage.

I would have left the CF exposed on the vents.

Not everyone is a fan of exposed CF. I personally prefer painted body panels and paint them, all I cared about was the weight savings

I don't know why they would paint the whole thing, on a hood like yours I would want to leave some of it exposed like you did... I was just curious because I passed on some hoods I found in the past because they were completely painted
