Default Autocross shocks and tires

Wanted to get some opinions on how much time upgrading over the current c6z shocks and 255/40&275/35 federal rsrr might be worth on a typical course, here's a video from last event for reference. I assume the best bang for the buck next would be drm bilstein sports and Re71s, but also curious if Koni adjustables would be worth it on my BS frc or going to an 18" front to run rs4s/a052s.

Koni yellows, RE71Rs (255/40-17 front and 275/35-18 rear) and Strano Parts front sway bar. You will be happy. Some prefer the Rival S though.

Koni yellows, strano 33 front bar, alignment, 315 a7's on 10:5x18 c5 rear rims on all 4 corners on a budget. CCW 11x18 fronts 315 a7 12 x18 rear 335 a7 tires for max grip. Is there a class you are trying to compete in?

If you read the first post, he says BS FRC. So that's B-street, and outside of the shocks and bar, your suggestions are illegal for the class.

OP, you can get a 255/35-18 RE-71R, so 18s may be the way to go. That keeps some amount of stagger front to rear (I run square on an FRC in STU and don't have ABS issues though, so I don't buy that the stagger is necessary). If you want to be competitive, you should be on Rival S' or RE-71Rs (currently). I would hold off buying tires until we see what comes out this winter. There's the possibility that the ZIII upsets the apple cart, but we won't know until spring.

Correct, I think most people see the z06 in the signature and don't realize the "pre-" is for the frc which pre-dated the c5z06 as technically there was a c2z06 as I'm sure you know.

How much do you think the Koni's are worth? I have a zr1 (33mm) and hotchkis (31mm) which I believe are similar to Stranos two bars.

The RS4 and A052 come in 265/35 fronts as well as 285/35 and 295/35 respectively is why I asked about them though like you said everybody seems to stick with the rivals or re-71s which I figured was just because of contigency. I'm not really worried about stagger as I've run square 275, 295 and 315 setups.

It's because they're the only ones that are competitive. The RS4 is off pace compared to the other 2, and so is anything else at this point (except in very specific, non-Corvette options).

Sam's bars are 33mm and 35mm, and he has a solid and hollow version of each, IIRC (for sure a solid 35, but I thought I remember him saying something about a solid 33 at some point). The ZR1 bar is lighter than Sam's 33mm bar, so it will have a little bit more oversteer bias than his car.

As for the Koni's, I don't know. And you can't really make a determination until you've got the right tires on the car, and you need to adjust transient balance. If with your current shocks, the transient balance is good, then your shocks are working just fine. If you get to the point where you have transient under or oversteer, then changing the shocks is what you're looking for. At that point, you'll have a much better understanding of what you need, and will be able to make a much more educated decision than what you need. Sam likes them, I don't.

See what happens when I get up too early and didn't have coffee.

He sure does... specially since he just won nationals on them.

Would you please elaborte on what you dislike about the Konis? Was thinking Penskes but with Strano winning on Konis I wonder if they are worth triple the price. Thoughts?
