Default Best Time of Year to Buy A Corvette? Historical Incentives?

Hi Guys,

Been hawking the '17 Grand Sports waiting for GM to offer some decent incentives. Also been considering a used '15-'17 GS or z06. Been trying to stay under $60k, which explains the long wait....that, and this loyalty program nonsense. Every new car includes it, so when shopping I just add $3k to the list price. It's like finding out Santa Claus isn't real over and over again.

I did some research on historical GM incentives and couldn't find a whole lot for October. Closer to black friday last year, it looks like they offered 10% off MSRP. Seems like every month is truck month I read on Edmunds that December offers a 'perfect storm' of savings and incentives - averaging 6.1% off MSRP + incentives.

So, for all you guys who bought or leased a 15's at the end of 2015, or 16's at the end of 2016, or at any other time of year for that matter...what kind of deal were you able to pull? Also, I'm not sure how much to read into the Edumunds article. Every time I've ever walked into a dealer and there were any incentives, almost all rebates went to the dealer...

Dealers in general offer the best deals at End of Month,End of Quarter & End of Year.

I bought my '17 on 12/27/16.

BIG local dealer ( City Chevrolet a Hendrick dealership) was eager to move a unit before year end.

I got the best BIG internet dealers price & they beat it.

I went with MacMulkin in Nashua, New Hampshire. They have a no additional costs ethos, so you pay for the car and shipping and then you pay the taxes and title yourself in the state you live in. They are currently running a 10% off MSRP across all of their Corvette inventory. I found them to be more competitive than my local dealers even after the $1495 shipping fee. Car arrived perfectly.

Picked up my 17 GS 10 days ago in central CA. 16.8% off plus 3K Chevy loyalty plus $700 Costco rebate came out to 21.2% off to be exact.
I missed two good deals on 16 Z06s last December. One at 22% and one at 23% both in CA. Technically, buying in Nov/Dec is like buying a year old car but I don't mind as long as the odometer is under 20 miles.

Best time I can remember for buying a new in-stock Corvette, was last November and December 2016, where Chevy dealers had several new 2016 RED TAG Specials tagged with discounts of up to -20% off MSRP, on select new Corvettes.

The question is; will any appeal to you enough to buy one. Many of us choose to order a built-to-order new Corvette, at a maximum of 11% off MSRP.

Historically, the best time to get the previous year's model began in September and the discounts got progressively better while the inventories got progressively smaller. Last year, it was November, December and January of 2017 while the dealers had the Red Tag specials only on select cars from inventory give discounts of 20%+. Since the 2019's are releasing early, I would expect that 2017's will see some great incentives this winter and 2018's will too to some extent depending on dealer inventory.

It is a balancing act trying to get what you want with good incentives attached. As inventory shrink, deals get better but what is left may not be what you are looking for. I am not sure that a bigger discount would make someone feel better about a car that is not what they want sitting in their garage.
I bought in November last year.
Happy hunting.

Buying a vehicle off the lot is almost always a compromise in terms of how it is equipped...very rarely can one find a unit equipped
exactly as one would choose to order the same. That said, use that to advantage in negotiating the purchase.

For reference, have been in contact with a fairly large NC corvette dealer about a 2017 GS/1LT/manual trans...MSRP $69,430. Currently do not seem overly motivated to sell the car since the dealership's discount is a whopping 3%, not including the $3k loyalty rebate.

Most options are "nice to have" unless you're planning to track your car or want particular cosmetic features. Watching the "dealer inventory" forum here will get you good deals from the forum dealers. Macmulken in New Hampshire does have good deals as others have mentioned, and I was considering buying from them and having my son (who lives near there) drive the car to Michigan. In the event, I got the same deal in late June from Les Stanford Chevy in Dearborn, about an hour and a half away from where I live.

Patience is worth a lot--but also not waiting to jump on a good deal when it appears.

Ok.. Ill do the troll thing but might be right..

Answer is in 8 months. Once they show c8s(outside of Micky D's w/o covers), There will be 2017s, a 6 month run of 2018 with amazing HD radio and 2019s rolling in. There will be such a back log of C7's GM will throw in a v6 camaro.

Absolutely the best advice. It's a balance of price vs inventory. For a '17, I really think you can strike a good enough deal right at this moment. If you could get 15-17% off now and have a decent selection of cars to choose from, why wait a month or two for another 3-4% off when all you'll find are the left handed cars that no one wanted (color, equip, trans, etc.)?

And OP, the GS was only offered in '17. I started out looking for a used one and found that I could make a better deal on a new leftover than any used deal I could find nationwide.

I caught a end of the month of June from KERBECK.Was like 10k off of 83k.Your score will obviously be on inventory only.Beggars wont be choosers when the combo's you want are SOLD.
Put on over 5k Miles since first of July (this year) Can't put a price on that Time.
What is your time worth,Without?

It is not clear where you live but I have always found the best deals when there is snow on the ground. No dealer wants to keep a car in stock that cannot be driven since it costs them money and the car depreciates as it sits in the showroom.

So the next logical question is when is the best time to buy if you need to place an order? My target is an Arctic White Z06, 3LZ Spice Red Interior, Competition Seats, interior carbon fiber trim, with M7. Basically impossible to find on dealer lots near me or neighboring states.

Last year I saw 12% from northern dealers in January/February for ordered Corvettes.
