Default Plan for C5 Audio setup using joying Double-D android HU

I hope this is in the right section.

I am bent on going with a double din and joying CA-JY-UM135N2 android head unit...

https://www.joying.ca/joying-new-rel...tooth-4-0.html

I am on a super budget... but I do enjoy my sound... so perhaps I can take things in stages... I will also try to find used stuff for sale if possible...

I first thought I'll get the double din and joying and use the stock speakers but that's almost sacrilege... can i even? What adapter would I use? I heard something about a PAC adapter...

I want to DIY this whole project... to save money again... and for the fun of it, but to be honest I am not knowledgeable this is my first attempt at this...

For speakers I found this guy;

Amazon Amazon

This is to fit 6.5" speakers.

But will I not need something or will that head unit be able to power speakers? If so then I need an amplifier too, it would be ideal but again I am on a budget....

Some people mention use 6x9 speakers.

What speakers on a budget can I look for 6.5 or 6x9 that sound basey but clear. The bose system is probably the worst audio experience I've ever had. I like the sound system in my wife's bmw 335i (bmw optional higher end audio setup, clear, precise, basey...).

Down the line yes I want a woofer in the rear, but again lets save money right now...

If you truly enjoy sound I would suggest not going with an android unit. I have had a couple android units.. I will say that. The sound out of them is not the greatest. I would stick with a main brand unit and use an aux input from your android. I thought having an android unit would be the best decision. I am removing it for an Alpine.

i have the UL-134 but I upgraded the 8 core arm processor to 2gig ram works great but the sound is sub par for me

Hmm, I've looked at the XDA Forums and it seems people do lots of mods.... ViperSound, i've done this on my androids, it does improve sound, it's a linux/android audio driver that improves audio.

They also do internal DAC upgrades which are cheap and if you know how to solder (my father does), an easy cheap upgrade.

Or they do an external DAC/DSP as you can do a digital out via USB.

So there are options.

For the time being I just want to get my feet wet.

There is a certain advatntage to a full android touch screen as it's essentially a computer you can fiddle with. I am a technical person so when it comes to computer hardware/software I have that advantage... and I see the beauty in using an android unit in that too.

Yes, I agree with the mods, If you like to tweak then it will be a good platform. Curious on the DAC upgrades as i still have my unit, but have decided for the unfortunate amount I drive my car, I just want a complete working solution..

So I contacted Joying, they said that the unit comes with an ISO harness. What does that mean?

I looked up ISO harness and covertte and this came up on amazon:

PAC ROEM-VET1 System Interface Kit (Replace Factory Radio and Integrate Factory Amplifiers for Corvette Vehicles)

Amazon Amazon

System interface to replace factory installed receivers and integrate factory amplifiers
Adjustable 4-channel RCA outputs that provide line level matching
Isolated transformer inputs and outputs
For 1997 - 2002 Chevrolet corvette vehicles
Factory Bose EQ cannot be retained, optional tweeters are needed to maintain high frequencies

Someone might elaborating, if you look at the first post, it looks like RCA connectors are there too. So someone help me out.

It is a factory interface harness. But they might not send or have the right one for a corvette. Also the double Din Android is large then a normal double din.. just something to be prepared for..

My Issues with Android (specifically the UL135, the UL134 number was wrong)
- Hard buttons, there is an app to remap these, but I have not found a clean way to change the audio with the buttons
- I use the radio, it is decent but bypasses an audio changes done in the android OS (IE Viper has no effect)
- Radio App is just ugly
- Low level output voltage is low compared to today's electronics (like Kenwood, Alpine etc)

What is the DAC swap you mentioned? is that the final output (so this would help the radio?)

I have begun looking at these head units, but for my C6.

I think you have to get a box to allow the chimes and sounds from the car to come through the speakers like factory. At least that is what is required on the C6.

That might be the little blue box in the picture you have called "Factory Sound System Interface".

I'm not too worried about the sound quality. It's not like it is a luxury car with no other noise from the exhaust, road noise, etc. Don't get me wrong, I still want to hear music from time to time.

I'm looking more for access to apps that integrate with the car like Torgue, Waze, Escort Live, etc.

Good luck with your project. Let us know what you end up with and what steps you had to take to get it installed.

I have been looking at another speaker choice: Clarion SRG1623R

These seem to be a tad better than the Kenwoods I listed earlier and about 10 dollars more?

definitely go with the axxess unit over the pac. axxess is plug & play where the pac has to have a wire added to the fuse box.

ISO is just a generic harness/plug that chinese stereos use. just like how kenwood, pioneer all have their on plug for their radios
