My car is giving the H63 and H64 codes which correspond to "Right Oxygen Sensor Circuit Open" and "Right Oxygen Sensor (Right Bank Lean)". I will plan on replacing the passengers side O2 sensor this weekend, I just went out with the crow foot wrench and it broke free pretty easily. Is there any preferred replacement manufacturer (Bosch/Denso/NGK/ACDelco) or any I should avoid?

I'm good with Bosch or Delco.

I'd replace all the sensors at once. Might as well if they are having fault codes.

That was going to be my next question, I figured if one went bad the other one probably is about to go as well, so I will plan on doing both.

Only exception is if I replaced both and 3000 miles later, one failed, I'd replace that one. But if they are over 5 years, I'd probably just replace them since they see the same wear and tear. The downstream ones might have some effect on the car. Hard to say so just toss them while I am there.

PO of my 96 replaced one with an NGK about a year before I purchased the car. That one went bad within a year or two and I replaced it with the same brand - which also went bad. Put in a Denso, and it has been fine for three years or so.

Got lucky with 1 denso 1 bosch one failured prematurely the other didnt read right. Bit the bullet bought Delcos wont use antyhing else. No CEL syndrome anymore. Expensive lesson

In general Bosch O2's don't work well with GM cars & trucks. ACDelco & NTK are what I've had success with long term.

I replaced both front O2 sensors in my 94 with Bosch. Been good ever since.

In what way? Sounds kind of weird that an O2 sensor doesn't work well in one car but is great in another.

Having scoured the internet, I see there is no consensus on what brands are good or bad, I ended up buying Bosch at NAPA. We shall see how they do.

I don't think it matters where you buy a certain product as long as the part numbers match. Kinda like buying Cambells Chicken Noodle Soup. Don't care if you get it at Wal*Mart, Target, etc. If the item number is the same, it is going to be the same.

Well my OBD I codes list says 63 and 64 are for the MAP sensor faults reading too high or too low.

Where is your OBD I codes list from?

Some of the non delco brands wont put out the right voltage (correct term?). OBD1 seems more tolerant..anything wiht LSx forget it Delco or youll get another code guaranteed. Cost me about 3k to learn that lol

I replaced both of my original sensors with Bosch and so far they work great. The original right side o2 sensor had been slow and the car never went into closed loop, now it does. The only thing I could not figure out was where to clip the wire for the o2 to as it just hangs now, but has a clip on it. Might have to check the FSM for that.

Good question. When your O2 sensor(s) get warm enough to start operating the ECM uses those readings (and from other sensors) in most situations to set the fuel/air ratio properly. This saves gas and also lets the engine run better. What is proper you could write a book about, but that is generally it.

Ok your using the correct codes for 92 Corvettes. Don't know what my list of OBD I codes are for but they are from a generic OBD I troubleshooting book.

I replaced them both today while pulling the knock sensors to flush the coolant, they were not that bad to replace, they broke free after about 40 ftlbs of torque and could then be finished by hand. The new Bosch replacements had the anti-seize on the threads already but I had to add just a bit more copper anti-seize to feel like I did something. We shall see how they hold up.
