Default LS7 Engine makes big power real easy

Always great when a local customer comes in to our shop and says, "I didn't even know you guys were here." Mike came in with his very low millage LS7 after being recommended by Local Corvette Technician, Derek Lavin of Caculated Chaos. Mike bought his Wide body C6 Z06 out west and only had it for a couple months before deciding he wanted a little more power to have fun on the streets of New Hampshire.

Mike picked out a camshaft profile he wanted and bought a set of RHS LS7 cylinder heads topped off with a Fast 102mm intake. We honed the cylinders for the new rings being used with the Mahle 4.130" pistons, Polished the stock crank and used Clevite H-series Main and Rod Bearings. We retained the stock titanium connecting rods but upgraded to ARP rod bolts. What happened on the dyno next was just, Awesome.

712 Naturally Aspirated Horsepower on our SuperFlow 902 using our Holley Dominated system. Derek took it from there, reinstalled the engine and tuned in using HP tuners and made a incredible 619hp. At just over 13% drive train loss, we are very happy with the results, As is Mike, who has commented at how nice the car drives with having 200hp more than a stock LS7.

Why were the pistons changed on it? Planning nitrous or boost down the road?

slight raise of compression and rings were gaped for a future 200hp shot.
