Yes, I'll agree that it is time for values to go up.
Today I dumped the clutch at about 5k and did a high quality, massive burn out.
It was SO good it pissed my wife off.
This is why I LOVE this car.

Is there any chance to repost the original link?
Weird....when I look at it from my computer it just shows the small box with and x in it. On my phone it shows the articles you posted.

mine is going up in value every day, I just crested 100k miles and the ZR-1 is a mechanical masochist. It enjoys a good beating
I think in a way guys like Curtis Ward, George B. and Kurt and Aaron and all the guys that DROVE the car and beat on it trying to break it educated me that the lt5 is an anvil.
So I've broken probably MOST of the other stuff I built, BB chevies, old poncho 400 * 455, turbo buicks
Now comes Mr Lingenfelter and a modded LT5. 500 at the tire 100k later.
So from a monetary standpoint, a long time ago, the ZR-1 presidents could have "moth balled" and rubbed with a diaper the ZR-1 and maybe got back some of what we paid.
OR
Drive it and let the beast roar as frequently as possible.
I went for the later, trained by the best, and that VALUE is way more than a few sheckles would have brought me.
Many times I've thought about selling this car. Every time I lift the hood and think of those that put this one together, I think I owe it to them to wear it out. My bet is those that try to wear out the LT5 might be surprised.
We've yet to see lots of the 415s and stroker Zs rack up miles, so I had some durability concerns. 100k miles later, not so much. It's a faithful steed ready to prance and show tailights to most on the road, day after day. I've broken drive train stuff, the LSV LT5 can dish it out. The LT5 just keeps coming back for another good beating.
Like other "tuner cars" many times the durability suffers too much as the tuner tries to wring every last pony out (and lt5 ponies are premium stock and priced accordingly) and break soon after the build
I'll say based on my experience the LSV is not one of them and has never disappointed.
For those that want to invest in the ZR-1, don't be afraid of the high mile cars, consider the 24 hour record, the LT5 will go the distance. And the support and brother hood of the beast help each other like no other group of car guys I've ever been associated with. Just look at what Wazoo has done!
Back to the durability of the LT5, I remember fondly the dyno days and one local VA gent had a 91 and 92 (Mike is Kentucky now I believe) and the car had 122k miles
we dynoed that car with no mods done for a few years in a row and as the miles wore on the car continued to get a bit stronger. Not much, 3 to 5 HP, but for sure the car was every bit as strong as it was with 2k miles on it (and just a bit more).
I think as the new ZR-1 debuts and we see the next phase of technology rolling out, there will indeed be more appreciation for the LT5
The name is back, but not the soul. I hope to motivate folks to "prove their metal" and go take that 24 hour run back.
It belongs to us. If not this ZR-1, the c8. I hope to live long enough to again be the lord of the ring and take to em all at Nardo.

The really sad thing about the 24 HR record is that it was broken by a one off prototype car under much better conditions. It wasn't a production car like the ZR-1 on a low budget affair. I'd love to see a US automaker do it again with a production car.

Me too. I hope to motivate the players to "do it again"
It's on my bucket list to get this effort rolling. And why NOT invite the players.
ZR-1, Ford GT, McLearan P1, Lambo
the new ZR-1 likely has the cooling and HP to do it.
As would an unrestricted C7Rs with a zooted up engine.
The reality Graham mentioned is that "its not the car, I can build one for you, it's the check with the right amount of zeros in it"
I love that one. I sure do think it's time, and as the saying goes
If not now, when, if not you, then who then?
I know it's only an expensive piece of paper that you get (FIA record) but if you all recall 1990 history many of the crazy galutes are still around and I bet they'd take a turn at the wheel again if given the chance.
The logistics and $$ are formitable, and the payoff horrible (nothing), which is exactly why I want to do it so badly! The bragging rights are oh so worth it and we enjoyed 12 years of the 24 hour record and still have the 5k record.
I think if orchestrated properly and getting the big ad and car guys involved it would be cheap ads for the sin companies like tequila patrone (NHRA) Jay Leno (just don't bring the rocket cycle), and of course the vette guys.
We already know Dave and the drivers that came to the gathering in 2010 showed that there are more than a few with a fire in their belly (and hopefully more cash and connections).
So fast forward too 2018 and now we have a NEW ZR-1, and maybe soon the stars will again align.
I think in honor of Jim Van Dorn, with should resurrect the Pirate Racing moniker and use the ZR-1 net power to get the right contacts and $ provisioned. As a non profit they can accept donations to the effort and provide a commemorative patch/T shirt for the record run.
We have much of the infrastructure in place to do that if people pitch in.
A few good vinyl wrap jobs on the cars for the ad folks and they will be happy with their rolling bill board for 24 hours plus.
And get this on cable, speedvision would have been perfect, but where their is $ their will be TV coverage, the ad guys will need it for sure.
IMHO the vette needs to be the lord of the ring again. And I'd love to to be over there with the top off and american flags waving on the victory laps!!

Anthony, when you say prototype ,what does that exactly mean.....?? What was different than a ZR-1 off the showroom floor?? Interesting..
