Thoughts on this '06 up for sale near me
I was searching around Texas' craigslist and came across this 2006.
https://houston.craigslist.org/cto/d...339709630.html
To say the least, it caught my eye. Salvage title, yes. My father always told me to stay away from flood cars, but this car makes me want to go against that. My question is this; Should I even bother? Ad says it runs and drives, but needs a water pump. He says that the only thing water got to was the carpet, but I'm more worried about the potential rust and the wires that run under the body. Ad has been up for a couple weeks now, maybe he's flexible on price
Also, I haven't seen the car in the for sale section on here, but maybe someone knows the guy who owns the car? Just some wishful thinking.

20 grand for that piece of crap?
Absolutely not..
Worth no more than 6 grand..
Do a search..there was just a member here who paid 10 grand for a nice black 2 owner 2008 c6 with 159k miles for 10 grand and it was comparatively flawless...
No reason to buy that junk you posted on Craigslist...
Jmo and good luck...

I figured I'd try to get a hold of him later today and get some more details. Will definitely want to see if it's the stock block with 150k on it running 15psi. I'm not too sure he'd be willing to take a call at 5:30am.

Just searched up "Single turbo C6" on YouTube and found his youtube channel with some videos of the car in question.
So unless something has changed, it is the stock bottom end LS2.

Why buy a corvette with 150k miles, that's modded and flooded...
The pcm is under or rather at the very front of the passenger footwell...
The headaches that will begin with the water on the electrics down the road are going to be not worth even the sub 10 grand price...
20 grand? It's your money...
Good luck

Run Forest Run.
I would not touch it at that price. It was totaled by the insurance company so the title is no good. He is trying to get the money he has in the car back.

The owner is not discounting the price at all for the salvage title. As noted above, that is a high price for that car even without the flood damage

I agree, but there is definitely quite a bit dumped into the fuel system, rear spindles/wheels. I'll see what I can gather later today if I can get a hold of him.

I think I'm just trying to find the light at the end of every tunnel. I think my brain saw the $20k pricetag and instantly told myself that I could afford it, not really even thinking about what the car entailed.
C6 Z06/ZR1 is one of my favorite body styles of all time. Definitely not in the position to be buying a $35k car. I keep looking at C5 Z's, and while they look absolutely badass and are in my price range, nothing comes close to the C6Z.
I used to love driving, but now I daily drive a 2010 F150 that gets 10mpg and takes 30 seconds to hit 80mph... Makes me hate being on the road. I want to get back to what it used to be! Guess this should be my motivation to get my *** in a C6Z as soon as possible.
Onto the next one.

Listen to Dad, he knows, don't walk, run, and fast, and get it out of your system it's not the right car.

Iwould never consider a salvage title period! Your Dad is right.

Run away, run away fast. The insurance company didn't total the vehicle for 'a little water getting on the carpet'. Ask yourself a question; if all it needs was a new water pump, why would he be trying to sell it with all the mods that he's done/had done. IMO, you would be looking at nothing but trouble and expenses if you purchased this vehicle ... as others have said, listen to dad

1 Never buy a salvage car ( I learned that the hard way )
(Resale value is ****)
(Random issues come up that weren't properly fixed, or even noticed)
2 Never buy someone else's project.
If you live in CA (GOOD LUCK SMOGING)
(people generally **** **** up when they mod)
I'd stay away. Find a clean title, closer to stock the better.
