What air cleaner assembly do you have on the car? Is it the original dual snorkel style ? I ask because my 72 350, has a GM aluminum intake (like the Z28 with Holley carb) and it has the "open element" drop air cleaner which fits the stock hood. What style manifold are you looking to put on..and for what reason? If you want any additional information or pictures email me.

You would probably benefit much more with a basic cam change as going to a different intake and carb. Without changing anything else it's pretty much a waste of time if you are looking for some sort of performance gain that you can actually feel or reliability.

The Edelbrock dual plane performer series works well with a Holley 750 on a mild small block with headers. Stay away from the single plane intakes, unless you have big power and will have your foot in it.

the setup is not original, has a holly carb that needs to be rebuilt, just want to make sure if i get a edelbrock intake and another holly carb it will fit under the hood, most places that sell can not say it will have hood clearance issues

I have a Holley spreadbore double pumper 6210 on a factory Q-jet manifold in my '69. Love it. Bolts right up and easy to change jets as needed.

I've owned the carb for a long time (~1990) and had it on a couple of cars. It had sat on a shelf between cars so just got done rebuilding it, stupid simple to do. While rebuilding I changed out the power valve to an 8.5 from the factory installed 6.5 as my recently rebuilt engine makes 18 inches at idle. I also reduced the jet size in the primary a notch from Holley factory spec. Getting way better gas mileage now. Runs better than ever!

If you have never rebuilt a carb there are a ton of videos on Youtube.

I did need to buy a new lower air cleaner base for the 'vette installation as the OEM breather tube interfered with the secondary accel pump and I did not want to remove the tube from the factory base. Plenty of height left so I added a Holley 11/16" phenolic spacer to improve torque and help reduce soak temps to the carb (the spacer took all the available height remaining so there is about 1mm between the top of my open air cleaner lid and the hood)
