good to know our old c5s have readily available options to bring them up to modern electronic standards!

I like the price and package on these. My only hesitation is looking at people on FB and here that have installed them the color and design of the upholstery isn't an exact match for the rest of the dash. It tends to stand out a bit. This is where Doubl D's bezel has an advantage.
Those brackets are simply universal DIN holder brackets. You can find them in a variety of styles from places online

They are for mounting the radio head unit into the center console. I believe they are attached, one on each side and fasten to the front metal cage once you knock out the original horizontal cross member.

I think its the old, you get what you pay for. It will work and will fit the double din radios, but the quality with the fit and finish just are not the same as the ones Dennis was making. But it also seems to be about the only option currently for bezels.

Personally, I don't think I could deal with the differing texture of the metra bezel. Reminds me of the later nissan 350z interior, I expect it to peel and rub off very soon.

I have to wonder if the Metra is part of Dennis' decision to quit supporting Corvettes, and worry about Mike and co. over at Vettenuts. Both undoubtedly have significant investments in other alternate offerings, and now the Metra units -- while quite possibly inferior -- are simply so much less expensive it becomes difficult to compete.

Dennis was the one who designed the metro bezel for them from what he told me. So it could definitely be why he is stepping away from it all. Either by way of contract that he can’t make them anymore or bc he is getting money from everyone sold now. But I think that plays a big part of it

May cost as much as the bezel itself but would be a way to get around the rubberised finish.

I wish we had some options like that. You could get the bezel just about any way you wanted it while Double D was still doing them. I hope someone else decides to carry that torch!

Not when I had him do mine less than a year ago. I pulled mine out, marked the bottom so I would know I got back what I sent him, mailed it off to him and about 6 weeks later got the same one back but modified for the Double Din. The repaint is not a perfect match but it is pretty close. Mine is NOT the black that is in most C5's but rather the medium neutral color that came on the 2004 Commemorative Edition vert and the 2003 Anny Edition C5's.
I suspect that the time/effort to modify and re-paint the factory bezel just was not worth the price he was getting and a replica made more sense. He also seems to have designed a number of other C5 and C6 radio/audio products for Metra and no doubt has some arrangement with them for payment on product sold. Speaker mounts for the front doors were his design/specs or so he told me. JMHO
Since he chose to step away from this he has been impossible to get help from on the install despite the promises made before the sale of the HU, Amp, speakers, front and rear cameras and all the associated install components. In some ways I wish I had never started dealing with him. The research effort to successfully complete the install myself took mega time to research both on this Forum and on the internet. It is now installed and except for some tuning works very well but with no thanks to Dennis for the promised help.
