I will give my experiences.
I have a 1993 Dodge Dakota V6 with 248K miles on it. It runs good but during the summer when the temps are in the 95-100+ range and running the A/C on the highway, the motor will rattle a little when accelerating. I can solve it by running super unleaded which leads me to believe it has excess carbon deposits on the pistons/valves. A year or two ago, I tried the seafoam stuff. I put a bottle in at every fillup 4 times in a row. Still pings on regular unleaded on a hot day so really didn't help.
Other experience was with BG44K back in the late 90's. Had a Mercury Sable that ran good but at a red light in drive you could feel the motor running. Not running rough or anything like that. You just could feel the slight vibration of the motor in the car. I was given a can of the 44K so I figured what can it hurt. I made it about 3/4 of the way thru that tank and was sitting at a red light and realized I couldn't feel the motor running anymore. It was weird. I actually had to look at the tach to make sure the engine was still running. It was never that smooth. It stayed like that until I sold the car about a year later. Made me think the 44K actually does something. It is higher priced than other similar products. I think it is in the $35 range.
My two cents..

I've heard nothing but good things about bg44k. I've used it once before. didn't notice much, but could have been a clean motor lol

BG44K I have used in my LS1 Trans Am and it was recommended by my Chevy dealership. they said to be careful not to get the product on the paint. I also had a '95 Porsche 911 a few years back that was running a bit rough. The Porsche mechanic said to bring the car in with 1/4 tank and he put in a bottle. A bit of smoke from the exhaust on the way home and then ran very well afterwards. Pricey at around $25 back then.

IMO 44K is the best on the market. Particularly on engines with carbon issues. (Cadillac V8) With Top Tier gasoline it's not quite as necessary as was in the past. It works good when bringing vehicles out of storage.

If your car is in good shape and properly maintained, you don't need any additives beyond what is in the products that you already buy (oil, gasoline and coolant).
READ THIS...and pay special attention to the pictures...
NOW, BG44k; I've used it on a car for a specific issue (as opposed to just tossing it in there because)... I had a beat-box commuter that burned oil, so I knew the intake/valves likely had crud built up. Additionally, the car had been sitting when I bought it so I figured the injectors may have been dirty. I did the BG treatment and observed zero difference; I was getting low-mid 40's gas mileage on my commute before, and I got the same (all hand calc'ed) after. The engine ran/drove fine before, ran/drive fine after. From a results perspective, it was a waste of money.

If you are driving a worn out beater where the carbon build up is helping it run. 44k is not going help and might hurt because it removes the carbon. No carbon causes a loss of compression and increase in oil use since oil can get past the already non sealing rings.

Maybe. Or it could free up stuck rings too. Possibly. Whatever it could do...it didn't do squat. My putt-putt kept on putt-ing...same as ever.

I have used the 44K before and it worked great. Had a mechanic friend tell me what to do. I had a '00 Impala with the 3800 series V6. Retired cop car so not too well managed. Had injector knock. I put one can of the 44K in with a quarter tank than a second can with a full tank. Got rid of the knock in 300 miles. I now put it in my wife's '14 focus se once a year. It had some work done after an accident and the tech was surprised that the intake, injectors and sparks were so clean for a DI engine.

I gotta ask; how would BG44, dumped in the gas tank, clean the intake on a DI engine?

my thought too but honestly i was too pissed at the time cause of the accident to question it. I would expect it to have more impact on the exhaust if any ports. Which I wouldn't expect at all. Sparks and injectors I can see though.
