Default C7 Splash Guard replacements

Has anyone replaced the "splash guards"? The OEM replacements add about an inch at the bottom. Is it worth changing?

yes and yes. I don't know about the wide body as i have the sleeker, better looking Stingray version.

Thanks, Did you install the GM OEM replacement? Front and rear go for about $150

Many in my club, including myself, have installed ACS splash guards. Wider and longer than stock.

Yes and yes. They definitely help and are exactly the right size to fit flush over the OEM-sized tires (front and rear) on the Stingray.

I recently added the ACS guards (didn't have anything before) and am pleased, albeit with little experience about the protection they provide. Fit and finish were top-notch.

HTH, and have a good one,
Mike

I just went with the GM guards with the slightly wider edge, Do not expect them to block all rocks, just keep them from chipping the edges of the fender wells....Anything too wide just looks gaudy.
Some have even gone so far as to install the side skirts just to block rocks, but I don't like the way they look enough to add them...

I have the base 2017 Stingray and installed the GM accessories splash guards. They look great and are functional.

Front Part No. 22935635
Rear Part No. 22935639

Took me less than 2 minutes for each wheel. You do not need to remove wheels. Just a bolt at the bottom to undo and pull off the old, wipe off the area from dirt and snap in the new and put the bolt back in.

They do help. After 8000 km, I don't have any chips, but I only drive on paved roads.

Default Splash Guards

We spend thousands of dollars on these cars and then have to modify something that should be on the car to begin with. The "guards' on the car seems to be designed protect the wheel well and nothing more.

Do it. One of the first changes on our Z, did front and rear. It helps with body side hits.

Almost 6k Miles.GM Splash Guards fit and work just fine.No chips.Skirts are a must without protective film.

GM's are hardly noticeable.

Yes and yes, love mine, even with 1" wider aftermarket wheels.

All that aside, why is this thread not ZR1 related? This was the only thread on page 1 without the blue ZR1 prefix. What gives?

Yes, GMs here. Quick and easy install, and they fit perfectly. Oh, but beware... ... they are made in China!!!

Hmm, the GM optional splash guards Do Not add an inch to the bottom, actually add little to the bottom they are wider! My experience on my 2014 Z51 is the optional front GM Splash Guards did little to stop pebbles from hitting and marking the heavy GM plastic protection covering the rocker panels up to the rear wheel well. We do have lots of pebbles on the roads in our area.

I installed full length carbon fiber (straight back) side skirts from LG Motorsports (a forum vendor.) They worked great. I was able to remove the marked up discolored GM plastic. In fact when I sold my 2014 with 3 years use the rocker panels looked new as did the top of the skirts.

For my Grand Sport ordered the GM Stage 2 aero package to get full length carbon fiber side skirts. From a number of forum post suggestions I ordered ACS front splash guards that are wider and extend further down than the optional GM splash guards. I can still hear the pebbles hit the underside of my side skirts but so far, not one mark on my rocker panels or the lower brake cooling duct!

ACS Front Splash Guards; Optional GM Rear Splash Guards

ACS Front Splash Guards Extend Further Down and are Wider than GM Optional Splash Guards.

I went with the ACS splash guards due to them offering slightly more protection than the GM splash guards.

The OEMs don't do much about rocks kicking up, but they do stop the tire gloss I use from pitching on the fenders. That justifies them, imo. And they do look a bit better on the Stingray than not having them. Wouldn't have ordered them, probably, but glad my car came with them.

They most certainly do catch many more gravel bits than what comes on the car. There's no way they couldn't because they stick out further.

That does not mean they catch all rocks, but they do help.
