The zr1 will bend over the gt unless it' an ultra tight track where the hp advantage won't matter as much.

I can't wait to we the ring times!

The ZR1 will walk on the GT. Its interesting there are no road course times on the GT.

The ZR1 will put up a good fight but I doubt will be able to keep up with the GT.

i agree. the Ford GT is an actual race car converted. if it did or didn't ? i don't think it would matter to either group in the end lol..

On paper the Ford should be much faster. 800lbs less and only down 100hp. The power to weight ratio is better on the ford, it has lower drag, more weight over the rear, active aero , DCT. I’m not sure how the ZR1 would keep up.

Who has ever even seen a GT on the track?

They are sitting in collectors' warehouses/garages.

This thread is irrelevant.

The GT is NOT 800 lbs less. That's a nice fantasy. Dry curb weight is 3054, so with fluids it's probably only slightly over 400 lbs lighter.

And frankly, my point is that the Ford, with all it's "racecar for the road" claims, just hasn't proven to be all that spectacular. So, it would make me quite happy if the ZR1 crushes it at 1/4 the price.

How did the c7z06 and c6z06 do against the prior generation Gt

That may be a good indicator.

It better be the Ford given all it's street use limitations.

I imagine it would be pretty close. The ZR1's sheer power and aero/mech grip will make up for a lot of what it doesn't have in purpose built chassis design.

The GT is a work of art though. I'd buy one regardless of track times and I'm sure the owners feel the same way.

Should be close. What'll be more interesting is what direction GM goes with their ME. Hopefully they won't put it out of the middle class reach like the Ford GT is, but I hope it's still as stunning and exotic as that car and not just a C7 or C8 look a like with a stretched rear and shortened front end.

Agreed.
The aero will likely be the deciding factor.
The GT was designed to win Le Mans; the ZR1 is a track version of the designed-for-the-street Z06.

BTW, these 2 cars have raced against each other for a couple of years now (see IMSA series).
Both have been restricted to 500hp.

What data are you basing this on? It's faster around a track than a Mclaren 720S. I'd say that's pretty farkin quick.

Has the GT run Laguna Seca? Why doesn’t it run the Lightning lap at VIR? Ford has GT’s available to run these tracks.

Fixed! you have us there. This should have been ACR vs ZR1!
This is two diiferent leagues!
The GT is what GM should have with the ZR1 a ground up new purpose built super car not a super improved C7.
But I do love my Z06 for the value Thankful we can buy 1. Would not feel right shelling a 1/2 mill on any car. I'm a chevy guy!
Where Ford has it offers that's it the GT that's it no other sports cars! I won't own any other of there other stuff!

THIS.
I don't know why there even is a comparison between the 2.
Very different cars, aimed at very different markets.

Well, this is the season to be "Thankful"...now, how giving are you?

BTW, yesterday I drove by Lulay's car lot on Mission St. and they had a white Z06 out front for sale.
Do you know whose it was?
