Default C6 won’t crank or start

When attempting to start my car sometimes it won’t start nor crank. After waiting anywhere from 5-20 minuets the car will start with no problem. All electrical devices are working when this occurs, lights, radio, horn...which leads me to believe it isn’t the battery. I’ve had the issue addressed numerous times at Ourisman only for it to keep reoccurring. The dealer suggest a new battery, and alternator, which I replace. I’m including a video of the issue hoping it to be some help. Look forward to suggestions. Thanks

Check the connection at the solenoid on the starter. It can become cracked and cause the exact problem you're having. Also make sure the battery connectors are not corroded on the inside where they clamp on to the terminals on the battery.

EV is right...most likely problem is cable connection at the starter.

Get under your car and look directly above the passenger side header about level with the oil pan and you’ll see your starter go ahead and wiggle the cables to see if they’re loose. Studs have been known to break on starters. Make sure you PHYSICALLY wiggle the cables not just look at them. Good luck man!

Default starting

Same problem, I take shifter out of park then back in park and it starts. Could be the senor on tranny.

watching the video , I would start by dropping your starter and examining the solenoid. typically the post on the solenoid melts and causes this issue. If this is what has occurred with your corvette -- have the solenoid replaced ( dealer will tell you it cant be done... trust me it can - take it to a shop specializing in starters .. it will only cost you about $20 )

your problem I suspect is different Bill. Another common issue with the C6 is the with the shifter and a sensor contained within it failing causing a no start situation. There are a few on here that were successful in repairing the sensor -- personally I have had no success and usually just replace the unit with a new one.

Had a friend that had similar problem as OP and it was the starter. The heat from the headers can do a number on this over time.

Hey Alvin,
Is your YouTube video still available? I wanted to watch it to see if it's like the issue I have. Currently I am in Germany so maybe your video isn't loading because I'm not back in the US yet, not sure.

This was my issue, so weird that they designed it so a sensor on the shifter would prevent starting the car. Thanks!
