I remember back some time ago Valentine 1 was thought by many to be the best of the best available.

Depends what your particular needs and wants are. If one detector did everything better than all the others, the others would soon disappear.
I like the V1 because of the optional remote display. If you don't care about that, the Escort 360 and 360c seem to be getting excellent reviews.

Uniden R1 or R3, they are the new kings hands down.... they sniff out radar sooner than anything out there....
Laser is not the best, the Valentine is still the rockstar for Laser..

Radar Detectors are becoming extinct with tons of cops only using laser now, and the issue you have with false alarms from other cars safety systems/blind zone alert etc. I guess brand new ones dont have this, but if cops use laser a detector is useless...
regardless, with or without Waze is the way to go...the more people that use it and spread the word about it, the better its gonna work

I got mine on sale early last month and only had to wait a week. It's pretty bad *** and according to the reviews and testing is one of the best. It has 360 coverage, detects all known bands including Instant On and Laser, SPECTRE photo and red light detection and easy to set up. I found a website that shows what different bands are used in my state to help set up the filtering to minimize false alarms.
