Default On it's way to California

Bright and early today the car carrier showed up to transport my 64 that I sold. It felt weird driving it to meet the trailer, it was 80' long and I live on a narrow street, in the snow. It was probably the first time the car has seen snow in over 40 years!
The driver could not drive a stick so I had to drive up the ramp to the middle of the trailer, it was kinda scary.
So now I am on the hunt for a midyear coupe to fill the spot.
Joe

OK Joe, that's sad and a bit funny at the same time...
Somebody is getting a nice car...

A sad day, I dread the day I have to sell my '64 L76 'vert, I am resisting as long as I can, but know someday t needs to go to a good home. Good luck on your search.

The driver of the car transporter couldn't drive a stick??? Boy what is this world getting to??????

I have a stick in my 65 Vette, 72 Porsche, 93 Classic Mini, 2004 Dodge Dakota but my 98 Winnebago motor home does have and automatic.

Holy crap, a car transport driver can't dive a stick. Thats a suit waiting to happen, a customer having to drive his car onto the truck. Unreal. That can be a very tricky thing I would assume.

I saw that car for sale and I would have chased it if I were looking. I normally don't like body mods but that rear looked great on that car.
I just sold my '65 Impala SS with a 4-speed and I had to drive it on the truck also. The driver didn't drive standard. He was from Russia which I hear many car hauler drivers are also. Was your driver?

My 67 went to LA in Sept but the buyer had it shipped in an enclosed trailer. Your beauty might be a tad dirty when it arrives in California given the current weather around the country.

Thanks Frank,
That was one of the nicest riding C2's I have ever rode in. It is going to a shop in California and turned into a silver resto rod.

I don't see any problem with the owner driving the car onto/into the truck. That's how I've done it with every car I've shipped with Intercity. No big deal.

I don't get it. You sold a great looking mid year coupe and your next conquest is a mid year coupe? Looking for a different year or engine/trans option?

This car was a buying opportunity when my customer said he wanted to sell it. I made him a low ball offer, under 20K, and he accepted it. I had the top of the car repainted and did the mechanicals to make it safe to drive.
I knew from the beginning that it wasn't a keeper.
I have a line on a big block coupe that has no body mods. I did well on the sale and as they say "you have to strike while the iron is hot".
I will keep you informed, I hope I get an early Christmas gift.

That makes sense! Sounds like you made out well, that is always a good thing. Good luck on the BB you have lined up.

My daughter and wife can drive a manual transmission.

Taught the daughter when she was 15....she’s 37 now.

I just noticed you has a little 'ducktail' on your car. I have one too, I like it even though others don't.

Back in the 70's when my boss and I got into SCCA with his Vette, he bought a cab over Freightliner with a 45' trailer. His son and I learned to drive the 16 speed and we took the car to the track in style.

My ex-brother-in-law drove long haul for years. Met him at a local truck stop for lunch on one of his trips. This was about three years ago and lo and bohold, he has an automatic in his semi !!!!!!!!!
