I've search various places on this forum and the net and haven't got a clear answer? Has anyone removed their carpet and insulation from their C6z and weighed that material so you know how much it weighs; how much weight was saved by removing?

I have not, but I would guess less than 10 lbs. Probably more like 5. Just don't eat supper for a couple of days before you go racing if thats what you are after.

"Misc." doesn't weigh anything either

I think the 06 didn't come with insulation, or so I've read...but was later added in to "civilize" the car a bit in 07 I believe.

06 didn't have the sound deadening which was like 25 lbs or something like that

Mine is a 2007. I had seen mention before in post that 50-75lbs could be saved. I didn’t think that number was accurate.

No way it's that much. I didn't weigh anything, but I've pulled everything out before. I have an '09, and all together (driver and passenger "tubs", behind the seats, and trunk) the carpet and insulation probably weighed around 20 lbs. And I think I might be overestimating.

Now, if you strip everything you can (center consoles, XM module, OnStar module, HVAC equip, etc) you can probably save 50+ lbs in the interior.
