its -6c around here and i went to start my car ( 2010 base) started up fine but there was no ding ding ding sound like usual once the gauges do their spin, very strange. however everything else was fine. is this battery related in the cold?

You could always have the battery load tested to be safe. Most places will usually do this for free.
