Default Paint Protection

I bought my 2010 GS last year and I am starting to see minor chips from road debris. Can anyone make a good recommendation on how to protect my paint?

For the front bumper, part of the hood and fenders and mirrors you can have a clear bra put on. Expensive but worth it.

Or if you wanna go an even more expensive route, have a paint correction done and a full ceramic coating. The paint will look better than it did from the factory.

clear bra is the way to go. You won't give chips a second thought.

If you do paint protection film (PPF), I would recommend bumper, FULL hood, half fenders, and side mirrors. I have a base but I know there are other spots for a wide body.

Thanks All! Like Blake mentions I am thinking about a ceramic coating. The challenge is figuring out what type because I am learning there are different types. And yes....$$$$

Ceramic is nice, but it won't protect against chips.

Is the clear bra covering better than ceramic to protect against chips? Or is it the same stuff?

Clear bra is the only way to protect against chips. Ceramic is completely different. Ceramic is durable and lasts a long time but the paint is still vulnerable to chips

That is correct. However some places go ahead and add the paint protection prior to doing the ceramic coating so it's kinda the best of both worlds

Professional Detailer here and clear bra will protect against major chip. Ceramic will protect small rock/chip, but get anything over 1/8 of an inch hitting your it won't work. I do both and clear Bra is the way to go.

I would get the affected area repainted...let it cure and then have a product like Xpel installed. Check out their website for authorized installers in your area.

Is Xpel the same material as what is used for a clear bra? Or is it more like ceramic? Definitely appreciate everyone’s advise on this matter. I will start researching local installers in my area. But have a cover over it until April.

Xpel is a brand of clear bra (PPF). Look at reviews and recommendations for certified installers as not all are created equal. Just avoid 3M.

I used Andy from Clear Guard for Cars in Hoffman Estates @ 847-571-0381. You can check out his GS, it is covered 100% front to back. He just did the whole front end on my Civic and a lot of other areas. The pic is when he just finished.

Either detail first yourself or have a pro detail it( paint correction/sealant or coating). Hood and fenders are all well and good, but with the GS -the quarters behind the doors take a whooping from the front tires. Clear bra or Expel and you are good to go

Long story, but I had the vette done on the side from somebody else and I wasn't happy with it. This was before I knew of Andy. It's been on 3 years but I'm taking it off this winter, getting paint correction done since it is off, then Andy is going to redo it. I have full bumper, full hood, 1/2 fenders, door cups, door sills, and mirrors done.
