Default Seat uncomfortable after long drive

I've owned my '06 convertible for almost 12 years. Until this week, I haven't made any long drives since summer. After about three hours of driving, with a break, the seat really became uncomfortable. My hips were bothering me, my wallet was bugging me and I couldn't adjust the seat back to a comfortable position.

Does the upgrade to the 2012 seat help, or am I getting too old to enjoy a long drive? It does seem like it is getting harder to get in and out of my car.

I have had a similar experience with long drives on my 13 GS that I never had in my younger days... ha ha and now I have more padding and not from my wallet.
Another thing I have thought about... ride quality... smooth roads they all ride smooth but when the roads get rough, Corvettes can get pretty rough too. Do Base models ride smoother than GS’s , than Z51’s, the Z06’s etc. . I am looking for more than HP now. 😎

After two back surgeries my doctor said MOVE the wallet. Between that and the surgeries long trips do not kill me like they use to.

Just curious, is it the left side that hurts which is the same side that your wallet is on? Thats where the L4-L5 discs are and they will hurt like hell. (Been there done that).

why would you torture yourself with a wallet in your pocket while driving?

I’ll chime in on this one. The 2012 GS seat is more comfortable to me than the 2005 Base Coupe was. But, the misses is not too comfortable in either seat, and she’s just a youngster. I’m thinking long road trips for us may be in the Grand Cherokee from here on out. (5 back surgeries between the two of us &#128534. Also, the wallet was eliminated from the back pocket about 26 years ago. Like the others, some days are good, some aren’t. The corvette doesn’t leave home on the bad days!

I will also Chime In I have a 2012 GS with 3 LT - and also a 2013 GS with 2 LT , and have driven both of them on long 3 day roads trips, sometimes 600 miles each day. the 2013 2 LT seats are the most comfortable of the 2 for my little *** with no wallet in the back pocket. GF likes either seat, no difference to her.

no modifications or changes have been made to either 2012 or 2013 seats. The 2013 has 25K miles, the 2012 has 11K miles. maybe 2013 is just a little more broken in.

Assuming you aren't highly deformed from birth:

ALL spinal discs, from the first one below the brain stem to our tailbone, are in the center of the spine, which is in the center of our bodies.

Well, I never thought I'd get a lesson in the skeletal system after logging into the C6 General Forum today. But that's what makes this place such a great location to visit. Cheers! By the way, some people's craniums are much smaller than that depicted in the picture above.

...and to add to the post, if you haven't done the seat upgrade to your '05, I'd highly recommend it. I would bet big money that if you peel back the layers, you'd find your bottom seat cushion is sliced and diced by the metal frame of the seat. Also, the springs may have cut into the center cushion which would cause additional sag while sitting. Get the inexpensive kit and fix your problems with very little money. And to chime in with the others, lose the wallet...not literally.

I think the C6 seats are the most comfortable, try riding in a C4. I never drive with the Wallet on my person. I moved the Wallet from the back pocket also.

I agree that not sitting on a wallet makes a huge difference, not only in a C6 but in any vehicle.

I also have to say that a 3LT seat with lumbar, and side boltster adjustability is the cat's meow. It can keep you in the seat as tight as you want to be.
My driver bottom cushion was sagging a bit on the door side, so I did install the seat rebuilt kit and that stiffoned the side and helped a great deal in comfort.

I've taken several long road trips in my 13 GS 4LT and think the seats are some of the most comfortable I've ever sat on. Took a 4 day 2,400 mile road trip with my brother no problem, we did alternate driving. Several other 600+ mile solo days. I sit on my wallet too but I do try to keep it thin. I want my wallet in my pocket at times.
