Default Need advice on shipping a titanium exhaust

I sold my Z06 Titanium Exhaust which is still intact and not cut. Can anyone who has shipped one of these systems provide some input as to how they shipped them? I'm trying to get the best price for the buyer and using a large box via UPS is about $200 which is absurd. I know Greyhound is cheap but I'm not near a terminal. Has anyone shipped these just using bubble wrap covered with shrink wrap? I think shipping them seperately will be cheaper so I'm toying with making custom boxes with some of the over axel pipe protruding and wrapped in bubble wrap etc. Any help would be greatly appreciated

I have bought one that came bubble wrapped.
Still expensive, 150$ if I remember that right.

If you have a Fastenal close by they are a cheap source for shipping.

Thanks for the suggestion, I've never heard of Fastenal. How does it work, I drop off the box at a local store and they ship it to the local store near where the box is going? Do you know if it's strictly by weight or does size matter (no pun intended)?

I had a exhaust shipped Fed-Ex. Bubble wrapped and a shipping tag wired to the pieces. It was still expensive if I recall correctly around $150.00. It arrived in good shape.

Thanks, that's the price I'm getting. Absurd for something so light.

Thanks, that's what I'm being quoted as well. I'm going to try Fastenal as suggested previously and maybe see if UPS might ship bubble wrapped.

Same here, ~150 shipped. It's not the weight, it's the size.

Curious about this Fastenal as well.

Yeah don’t know what an exhaust would cost but three years ago had a transmission shipped from Cali to Ks for $65.00. And yeah you go to your local store and they will ship to a store close to the address your shipping to.

I submitted a request for a quote and they should get back to me in a day. Exactly as you said it works. I have a store a few miles from where I live and the buyer has a store near him. They have trucks that travel all over the US so they ship stuff for people who happen to need a delivery where they are going. Great business idea. Only drawback is it may take longer to get there. In my case, the buyer doesn't need the exhaust until the Spring so time is not of the essence. I'll post the price they quote as soon as I get it. Thanks again for the info, I had never heard of this service.

Thanks for your reply. I'll post the price quote as soon as I get it and I'll post the experience if I decide to use them.

I bought a takeoff Ti exhaust from West Coast Corvette a couple of years ago. Negotiations on the price included limiting the shipping cost. It arrived in a large box with lots of packaging - I don't remember who the shipper was.

I have sold two of those systems uncut and boxed in the same box. Shipped ups and wasn't more than $80 dollars on either one I sent. (maybe my UPS people like me) I don't remember the exact size box but it can be done and it's not that hard. Just make sure to wrap the tips good.
