Default First Post for new guy who will need some advice

Hello everyone. I am a new member from Ohio about to start researching, and then purchasing, a corvette. My 20 year old son and I will be doing this together. It will be my third corvette as I owned a 1977 (high mileage) and a 1981. I purchased the 1981 new. Our plans are to spend somewhere around $20,000 and get as new a model as our budget will allow. We don't want a project car but we are just mechanical enough to be able to follow a service manual and work on our own toys. Lots to learn.

You have a lot of homework to do. I would guess $20K can buy some C3's up to perhaps some very used C6's. There are a lot of sections here in the forum to help you out. Where in Ohio? Go Bucks

East of Cleveland, Mentor area. Buckeye fans too but we don't see much hope for the Browns.

If you like the C5 most of them are under $20K and they're readily available, depending on how far you're willing to travel. I did several months of research and shopping in 4 different states before I bought my 2003.

Good luck in your search. Once you narrow down your search to a generation of two of Corvettes, check out those sections for more information.

Thanks. We do like the C5s but if the right C6 would present itself, we would consider that as well. We are willing to travel and we have been reading the sections on both generations. This forum has a lot of information available and is going to be a great resource for us.

Follow your own intuition & buy the newest model that your budget will allow. Corvettes just keep getting better!

Default Buckeye vettes

Hello and welcome from a fellow Ohio resident and Buckeyes fan. We purchased our first Corvette last February. We started off looking at C5's, but quickly found out that there were plenty of affordable C6's available as well. We ended up buying a crystal red metallic 2009 base coupe that we found in Wadsworth. We couldn't be happier! Good luck with your search. Go Bucks!

I thought I would update my first post. I started out looking for a nice C6 and there are several out there. I talked to several really knowledgeable corvette owners and the conversations were always interesting. The C7s kept getting my attention and my son mentioned that we should probably just go there, so we did. I found a nice 2014 Laguna Blue Z51 2LT. Now we begin the process of learning all about the car and what it can do. Thanks for all the great advice and I'm sure we'll be looking for some more help.
