Default How long did your factory battery last?

For those of us that bought your car new or near new, how many months before you had to replace it?

Seems that post #6 may challenge this hypothesis. Batteries can croak at any time just because they want to croak and **** you off. How long your battery will last is a crap shoot. I've had 7 years; I've had 1 year. They like to fail at the most inopportune times too, just because...

My 2014 Z51 battery lasted two years, replaced free under the C7 warranty.

My 17 Z06 battery is only 1 year old, still fine.

My battery always had a low voltage (~(12.4 V.) However never gave me trouble but did not want to go through 4 winters so replaced it with an AGM that was on sale last summer! Planned on keeping the Z51 for 5 years but decided "I Needed" a Grand Sport so sold the 2014 and bought a GS!

I never did use a charger. Never had an issue. However I keep my street rod on a charger all the time. That Optima battery is now 8 years old!

Changng batteries in a C7 is not as easy as a C6 etc. This is a PDF of my install: http://netwelding.com/Battery_Issues.pdf

My early '14 (delivered Oct 4, 2013) still has the original battery. I always keep it on a maintainer when it's not going to be used for more than a day or two. I may buy a new battery this Spring before I take it out of storage as a pro-active measure. With several trips to races planned for this Summer I don't want to have issues on the road in the heat...

MY 2007 had the original battery in it when I bought my 2014 new in April 2014. Still going with the original batt in the C7. Both were ordered by me, so both had/have the original batteries.

A quality battery such as GM provides in C7s should last 5>6 years "IF" car's charging system remains in good condition and battery is connected to a tender when not in use.

Default Battery

My 2015 Z51 OEM battery is now 38 months since I bought it, doing great!
I never use a maintainer or disconnect the battery for long sit periods.
I have had two sit periods of over 30 days while on vacation, no maintainer,
and many one to two weeks and the car starts without a problem.

I hear ya on the temperature and it is important to use a trickle when stored...........BUT the biggest drain on a battery...... pun intended is warm temps not cold.......especially one that lives in a hot trunk over hot tailpipes.

My C7 will be 3 yrs old in April and still have original battery-I use battery tender when not driven for more than 2 weeks and I only have 5300 miles on the car so that may add to the future life of the battery.

Re-read my post as I didn't say "all" as a battery can fail for any number of reasons or even be defective upon purchase just as any other product sold.
My statement above is based on my owning/operating a chain of auto parts stores for years where I sold and warrantied literally thousands of automotive/truck batteries not based on one battery failing prematurely.
