Default Best way to get rid of gas smell?

I spilled some gas on the weathertec floor mat and it made the whole truck smell like gas. This was Sunday in a buddies truck. I pulled the mat out when it happened and put it in the bed of truck is not garaged and the windows couldn't be left down. He drove it Monday about 80 miles and the smell was bad enough to give him a headache. The bed does have a roller cover on it so I opened that and used dawn to clean the bed real good and the mat. I put baking soda carpet fresh in the back floor and left some charcoal too hoping to soak up some of the fumes. I can see no where that gas got in the carpet. I plan to replace the Cabin filter today. The truck still smells of gas, any help would be greatly appreciated! Buddy is non to happy with me, I have his truck as he is out of town.

Gasoline smell is a hard one to eliminate. The best way that I have found is to clean all fabric upholstered pieces and air the vehicle out. The charcoal is a good move but may not help much. Scrub the floor mats with dawn and spray the interior with Febreez and let the whole thing air out again using fans. It is easier in the summer but takes more time when it is cooler in the winter.

Thanks, seems to be about 95% gone now, had the windows down for a while. I will get some febreeze on the way home and spray it real good. Replaced the cabin filter, the old one was nice and black!

Gas will dissipate on it's own, but cmonkey has it nailed, give the floor mat a good Dawn scrub to be sure.

I did some heavy cleaning with the frabreez and scrubbed the mat a second time with the dawn. It still had a slight odor of gas so I just chunked iit in the poolTook his truck back to him but it is not garaged and because of rain couldn't be aired out. His wife checked it the next day and said there was only a slight hint of gas left. We are taking his truck to Colorado soon and I plan to pick it back up the next weekend to wash it and polish it and finish the interior clean up as well so it should be all good!
Thanks

I've used a can of coffee to get rid of many smells.

I have had the mat in my garage all week, fabrezzed it several times ad put it out in the sun the few days we have had it, the smell seems gone to me. I have his truck to detail today and could smell no gas in it when I picked it up, hopefully its all gone!

Spilled a half gallon of Pine Sol in my truck's rear weathertech liner last month and still struggling to get the smell out. Some overflowed the mat so that's part of the problem. My kids say it smells good, but I'm tired of breathing it. Weather has been too cold/wet to really give it a good scrubbing. I guess it''s better than gasoline!
