Where to find OEM-style keys?
Got a nice new keychain for my Vette keys, but now I'm wondering if I can get new OEM-styled keys made to go with it. I've got an '85 so no VATS or anything to contend with. Anyone know where I could get some?
Thanks!
Thanks!

Try E-Bay, I just looked and the blanks are there for buying.

the Chevy or GM dealer should have all you want

Non VATS GM single blade were without the 'pads' but most dealers kept the 'pads' in stock to slip-over to make them what you want. A correct B&S or Strattec key and the pads and you're all set. Ask that dealer if they have any of the old pads. Later GM blanks became available with pads when GM went to black thumb pads on the key cylinders for the column.
A 'padded' A and B blank might be hard finds local. Check your current keys, you should be able to ID the blanks as A & B.
***If by chance the ignition cylinder has been replaced then you need to confirm the blank before buying a thing. Ignition could be A, C, E, J

eBay definitely. I actually stock up on them when I see a deal. I know I recently bought a whole box of non vats plastic head A keys...don’t remember if I acquired the B mates for them or not. I’ll have to check in the shop tomorrow

Any full service locksmith should have them. When I bought my 88 last year it only had one set of keys. I work for a general contractor and called one of our suppliers. They had them and the machine to check the resistor for correct VATS.

Did you check Home Depot? I know they carry a rubber wrapped GM-replacement key, got an extra set made there for my 92 K1500 and my 94 vette (PO swapped solenoid but still has the regular VATS solenoid wired under dash, I guess as bypass?). They've got them for both the ignition and door keys

I wouldn’t. If they don’t work are they going to give you $10.00? Probably not. Take them to a locksmith and have them punched by number. Then they are truly “factory original” and will work as such. They would also then be good for making future copies. You don’t need the key codes, they can read the key.

Lol. Well now I have to CLICK a LINK??? Geez man. So much work. Seriously though thanks guys. I found someone local but they’re out until Monday of course. Tried going to the Chevy dealer and they couldn’t do them-my VIN wasn’t in the system and that’s the only way they had to do it. I’ll post a pic once I get them done though. I know it’s a silly little thing but I’m excited to have original style keys.
