It looks sweet, but I just don't understand why they put all that high gloss carbon fiber down low. This is basically a track car and that front lip in particular is a consumable.

Thanks. Did they have other 2019 Corvette models besides the ZR1? If so, any changes to report, both exterior or interior?

I thought about that as well, especially considering during the test spy videos of the ZR1 at the Ring, you can clearly hear the front splitter hitting the pavement through the dipped curves.

Unfortunately, I think most of the ZR1s will visit the Cars and Coffee parking lots more than race tracks. Too bad they don't engineer a replaceable track front splitter that can be easily swapped out with a higher-end carbon fiber street/show splitter.

My experience with both the C6 ZR1 bits and the C7 Z06 bits is that the visible CF actually shows the track rash less than the painted. With the paint, the chip and primer underneath are very noticeable but chipping the clearcoat on top of the CF weave doesn't stand out nearly as much. It also helps to get those pieces clear bra covered.

I went through 3 splitters on my 2015 C7Z. The first one was cracked when I bumped a tire wall. The second one lasted most of the life of the car but it did get ground down from the Karousel at SP Shenadoah. I put a fresh one on when I sold the car.

It looks like the same ZR1 from the LA Auto Show! It's a beautiful ride.

I guess if you can afford to purchase and regularly track a C7 ZR1, then you can probably afford carbon fiber as a "consumable"

The wonders of press days: far fewer people, people that respect the cars, OEM staff on the stands that know something about the cars, lots of food and drink — highly recommended.

5 reasons why ZR1's visiting cars and coffee is actually fortunate. #1, Lots of oohs and ahhs from onlookers. #2, No particular skills needed to eat donuts and drink sugary brown liquid.<A8 suggested.#3, Zero expenditure on replacement parts. #4, Owner will recoup max $ and new owner will be overjoyed when traded for the M.E. And finally #5, the relief of German and Italian car owners who won't have to suffer the humiliation of defeat by an overweight untalented driver.

I moved to Ann Arbor from California a couple of years ago, still trying to get used to the white stuff.

Went to the industry preview last night. The Zr-1 is spectacular!!!
Pictures absolutely don’t do the car justice. The hood, the new front end,the splitter, the wing...especially the wing...looked fantastic. I’ve seen some pictures that make parts of the car look “funny” at certain camera angles, but in person this car is bad ***!
I was disappointed they only had one Zr-1 there. LA got two. Dubai they started it and revved it up. Here in Detroit(GM home town) we get one
I really wanted to see the new Sebring orange in person. Seems like if they were gonna only have one it would be the “Sebring Orange Design Package”

Edit:was gonna post pics but you have already seen them and they just don’t show what this car looks like in person

Interesting. I've got the carbon flash painted bits on my Z07 and they are getting a little beat up. Maybe the gloss carbon will be OK after all. Haha. Still, black plastic like the fender spats might have made a little more sense.

In all seriousness, if you want a finish that will hold up and look the track part spray then with black Plastidip. In theory you can later peel it off.
