Have to Smog Brand New Car
I am hating California more and more. I bought from Criswell and car shipped to my California address. Find out I have to do all the DMV work, so I go to DMV today. They tell me car needs to be smogged, even though it is 50 state certified and only 366 miles. I take it to a local test center, he hooks up and tells me that the O2 and Evap readiness monitors are not complete. Tells me to drive more and then come back for a free retest. At least I paid my taxes and registration, but still have to complete smog to get registration and plates.
Seems odd that the O2 readiness monitor has not completed. I took the car on a 90 mile trip last Saturday. When I get home I will use my OBD II module to monitor the checks and make sure it is complete before going back for retest.

It will not complete for 1000 miles. Apparently it is not just completing the drive cycle but something GM has programmed into the ecm to make sure the cats are broken in or some such reason.
Either drive a lot, or call the DMV and go to their referee. They know the problem and will give you smog certification. Search on here for threads with all the data from folks that have done it. Apparently a simple quick procedure.

I had the same issue. Just make an appointment with the SMOG referee and explain to them the situation. Take with you the SMOG test paperwork you got from the previous shop. They will charge $8.25 for the certificate and you can go on your way.

ME TOO! California is nuts. Your registration also goes up $100 along with an additional 12 cents per gallon gasoline tax bringing the total to 58 cents per gallon. To a insult most County's charge about 8% on the state tax. I worked for a major oil company for my entire career. If we could get 4 cents to the bottom line that was great.

No doubt. I live in the shithole state of Illinois and we don't even have weather as a redeemable quality. I cant see anyone defending either liberal cesspools.

It would be so cool if 30% of the folks did leave. Then we actually could drive somewhere without being in a traffic jam. I hear Kansas is really great and has a lot of open space and the taxes are really low. Try it you might like it.
I can't imagine staying in a state you don't like. Life is too short. Enjoy where you are. Even if the smog laws are a bit tiresome.

10.5% income tax. 1% real estate tax. 8.75% sales tax. Highest gas prices in the country. Highest electric prices in the country. State is paying for illegal aliens to go to college. This state was great til the massive demographic shift that was the 1990's cemented liberal politics forever.

Tiresome? They are completely asinine. I can't REDUCE the emissions on my 1976 F250 if any of the parts aren't California approved. Which they still make me SMOG. If i cant find replacement parts? Tough luck, need to do a full motor swap which comes with a special referree visit while they crawl up your *** to fail you on anything.

Mine was purchased out of state but opted for the courtesy delivery to a dealer in CA, that way the courtesy dealer will do all the DMV paperwork and you won't have to worry about the smog and it is registered as if you purchased in CA.

Well, when you have districts keeping politicians like Maxine Waters in office for like 20 yrs, yeah...you get what you wish for...a whole lot of nothin but failure. At least she got paid though...she's happy. California is a mess due to the people at the extremes, with middle america caught in the literal middle...nothin you can do but watch it happen.
Then on January 16th, 2018 The 501(c)(4) organization New California published their proposed states Declaration of Independence. They cited the split for being the 48th out of 50 for a business climate, and also cited very high taxes. The counties that wanted to leave are more inland and rural; the counties that don’t want a part of the state are the coastal cities
its a real shame honestly.
